You ever heard of fire fighters? I can guarantee that the main job of fire fighters is not, to rescue cats out of trees. Why I know that? Because I am one.
In my free time, I am a volunteer fire fighter in my home country. Growing up in a small village, there are not many options of what you can do. There are some sports clubs in the surrounding you can join, but much cooler is to be a member of the fire fighters. You can already join in at the age of 8 nowadays, back in my days you had to be at least 10. You already learn a lot of stuff about the tools you use, how to prevent fire and how to help others when accidents happen. Moreover there exists some youth fire fighter competitions, where you use some fire-fighting-tools in a team of 9 to challenge an obstacle course, where you have to achieve some stuff in the shortest time possible. Those days were awesome. When turning 16, you are allowed to join the real fire fighters. You learn everything you need about fire and how you best put it out, how to tackle all kinds of accidents and help people involved and hurt and how to act in catastrophes. To learn and get to perfection, you train a lot, and the community is an important part of it.
Of course there's also an athletic part, a competition where you fight in teams of 9 against each other for victory. It's a sport where you have to combine skill with speed to thrive to the top. I am in the lucky position, to be part of a really good team, and we are competing against the very best of the whole country, which by the way is also known to be the best world wide in this type of competition.
