As one might have guessed through some of my media pieces, a great passion of mine is history, Even now, I find myself going back to Carole Hillenbrand’s The Crusades: Islamic Perspectives (Islamic Surveys) as delving further into the history of figures like Zengi, Salah ad-Din and Baibars provides a lot of insight for my own understandings of the world, and the world of American football. Through Zengi, I have learnt to be wise, and to know when to bring my aggression onto the field. Through Baibars, I have learnt that sometimes, one must completely destroy the enemy, in order to stop them from ever coming back; and through Salah ad-Din, one of the most noble rulers to come out of the Islamic golden age, I have learnt that one must carry a certain tact and poise on and off the field, in order to be the best figure possible. Outside of history, it’s important to keep fit. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing are two activities that I find incredibly fun. It is always nice to keep myself active in as many ways as possible, plus with the wrestling skills I have learned from BJJ, I should be able to tackle any player who’s annoying enough to intercept my passes.
