Football has always been a part of Mason’s life, but it didn’t used to be all of it. For a long time, there was quite a balance of activities he divided his time on. He spent a lot of time in other sports such as basketball and tennis. Football was only the focus during the late summer and fall, the other two sports cleaned up his winter and spring/summer. Mason was also a big music person. He was in band from 6th grade all the way through high school. If he didn’t play football, he would probably pick his instrument back up again and join a city band. Outside of sports and music, Blaylock was also big into outdoors and video games. Those two seem like quite opposites and they really are, but he did his fair share of both. Being outdoors was probably the healthier of the two habits. There is something about being in nature that is just good for the soul. Getting away from people and technology is such a cleanse. Mason had his fair share of awesome camping grounds in Wisconsin, with a couple of state parks being high up on the list. The last hobby to mention is reading. Mason would go through phases where he would read nonstop for a few months, then not open a book for the next few. Lord of the Rings was his favorite book ever and I could probably talk about that all day on its own. When his football career is over, I imagine he will be going back to all of these things and more.
