Dre Matthews' first passion was not football, his first love was the game of basketball. Dre always played basketball with kids down the street and those kids always considered him the best. They always thought that he would pursue a career in basketball instead of football. Now that Matthews is in DSFL, during his free time he always loves to hoop, and always tries to watch basketball games, old and new. Dre also tries to go to NBA games when he has the time because experiencing a great game live is absolutely the best, there is nothing better. Dre Matthews' role model was always Michael Jordan. Even though he was not born to experience his greatness in the early 80s and 90s, his dad always showed him DVR tapes of Michael Jordan playing the game the Matthews once played. The mentality Jordan had playing basketball, was one thing Matthews wanted to have while playing football or anything really, that mentality was winning. Matthews' is the most competitive person on and off the field, he never wants to lose and wants to be considered as a winner.

Another thing Matthews loves to do is spending time with his family. Nothing is more precious to him than spending quality time with his family. With his family he always plays board games, watch movies, TV shows, and take them out to dinner sometimes. His best memories always comes from his family and would never trade anything for it.
