Although Otis Allen is now a dominant force on the defensive line, he initially began his collegiate career as a track and field athlete. He participated competitively in shot put and discus during high school and at the beginning of his freshman year, and although he gave up competing in these events to focus on football he still uses the sports as a form of stress release and as a supplement to his training. He has recently gotten into disc golf as well, which has proven to come to him quite naturally given his discus history, much to his competitor’s dismay. Allen tries to scope out disc golf courses whenever the Sabercats go on the road for a game, though he rarely has adequate time for recreation given the three games per week schedule. The Sabercats were not participants in the NSFL postseason last year, and Allen took this time to visit some of his competitors’ cities to get a better feel for the atmosphere without the gamete perspective that he usually had. Allen was in attendance for last year’s Ultimus championship between the Second Line and the Wraiths and spent some time in New Orleans’ City Park playing disc golf with fans, teammates, and other fellow NSFL players who were also visiting to watch the championship. Although there were no official recordings of this, rumor has it that six figure bets were being made during the game after two too many Sazeracs.
