As much as I would want to describe my former player, Ronald Watkins, as a draft bust, another player firmly stands out in my mind as a true draft bust. This player was taken during the downfall of Chicago, in the middle of Valor's reign of GM on this now seen as disastrous franchise. With the 6th overall pick in the S19 NSFL draft, the Chicago butchers selected Sweet James Jones. This player, now banned from the league, seemed to have a bright future with the "win-now" Chicago team, but things quickly turned south with this draft pick. Jones was drafted into the league by the Palm Beach Solar Bears and from the start displayed an attitude that might deter other teams, but not the Butchers apparently. After being banned from the league for numerous offenses, Chicago seemed to develop a phobia of first round picks for this incident, in turn Chicago decided to trade most of their first round picks away for what seemed like extremely lopsided trades for other teams, leading Chicago to getting inactive players and other not as good draft picks with their firsts. Overall, the pick and subsequent banning of SJJ helped to make an already snowballing franchise become worse and lead to the loss of more future assets due to the what seemed like a spree of trading away important draft picks.
