There were many head scratching moments in NSFL draft history and it can't be denied that there were some major busts down the line. But it is a difference to be a bust or just defensive tackle Brayden Ennis. The DSFL draft represented way better his value, as a season before he was drafted in the 5th round to the Kansas City Coyotes. To be fair, the DSFL had only 4 teams drafting at that time, so he was still 18 overall.
Brayden Ennis showed some flashes in the season and was on the more active side, which let his draft stock rise for those who didn't look closely. Over the span of 14 games, Ennis had 28 tackles and only achieved 1 being for loss. In addition to that, he had 1 sack and a forced fumble, which is not that hard to accomplish against a DSFL RB to be fair. So how did he get with this underwhelming performance to 4 overall you may ask? I have no idea. The Baltimore Hawks took a chance on him with their first pick in the S17 draft. Ennis lasted full 9 more picks on the Hawks, before he was traded away. That's one heck of an accomplishment, a bit too late for Baltimore to realize they don't want this colossus on the team. In fact, Ennis don't always make his way on the stat sheet through his defensive performance, he is kind of prone to making dumb penalties. But it is at least a way to make it on the game sheet.
After his first season, where he was really underwhelming, it was no surprise his tenure in New Orleans was over. The more surprising part was, that they found a trade partner. Austin took a shot at him. After just one season Austin told him, they are not going to continue his stay. So he had to look for his fourth team in 3 years. In the end, he signed in San Jose, where he played (if you want to call it like that) until S23. He already announced his retirement early this season, to finally make a stop to his career.
