I see so many posts about Sweet James Jones, it's not even funny anymore. So I'll go with less popular choice. He was also once a promising prospect like others mentioned here that suffered the same fate. Poor Philly. The player I'm talking about is Maxwell Beard. He was a defensive lineman who played for Kansas in minors. By looking at wiki it seems like he indeed was a promising youngster as he also had his own page. So there was little to no surprise Philla has decided to take a chance on his at 5th overall in the S14 draft. His first season was not impressive at all, but the team itself was still on contention so this wasn't a big deal yet. Unfortunately, it didn't become better next season at all. His stats improved just a little bit, but he still was a second/third or whatever fiddle to more skilled teammates. Perhaps this was a reason why he lost any motivation to this game. He stopped to improve his skillset and soon after he decided to retire altogether. The weirdest thing is two days after a retirement, he decided to show up to Philly's offseason training camp. It was too late. It also crippled the team a bit. Since his retirement, they couldn't make the playoffs for a couple of seasons in a row due to prolonged rebuild. Having Maxwell certainly could've helped them to not being in NSFC bottom for too long.
