The worst draft pick of all time was made in the Season 17 draft by the Yellowknife Wraiths. With the 56th pick of the draft, the Wraiths select Kicker Darius Ruckerberg from the San Antonio Marshalls. Ruckerberg was the last pick of the draft, making him Mr. Irrelevant. Not a good start to his career. Ruckerberg played his college ball at the University of Illinois where he was one of the most inaccurate kickers in division 1 college football. He made only 3 of 34 attempts in his time at Illinois and missed 8 extra points as well. The Wraiths were desperate for some consistency at kicker so they took a gamble on Ruckerberg, hoping that their special teams coaches could turn his game around. This proved to be disastrous. Ruckerberg was so uncoordinated that his plant foot slipped out from under him on half of his field goal attempts. In the second practice, he shanked a ball so far left that it hit the General Manager's wife in the face and broke her nose causing her to need several reconstructive surgeries. Ruckerberg was so bad that he didn't even see 1 snap in the NSFL. His career was disappointing from the start and the Wraith's wasted a valuable 6th round pick on his sorry ass.
