Biggest draft bust? Well I guess I'd probably go with Sweet James Jones. Picked 6th overall in the Season 19 NSFL Draft by Chicago, Sweet James Jones was expected to be part of what Chicago would hope would be a dynamic passing attack. Before making his debut for Chicago, Sweet James Jones would be involved in a contract dispute with his GMs. Having stated that he didn't want to play in Chicago during the draft process, Sweet James Jones held out for a hefty sum, signing a 1 year $7.5 million contract. Combined with concerns over his character, there were some red flags which suggested that this would not end well.
Now did he leave Chicago after a solitary season? Well no, he played the entirety of his career with the Butchers. So what makes Sweet James Jones a bust? A couple of things, for his contract demands it's fair to say that is performances did not reflect how he was being paid. Paid like one of the league's top wideouts but never put up WR1 numbers during his time in Chicago. Now you might say that with some development, he'd might be able become one of the better receivers in the league. Bad news, that didn't happen as those character concerns would come to forefront. Sweet James Jones would implode, attacking other players, posting threats, crossing lines which would see him handed a lifetime ban from the league.
Effectively 2 seasons and a ban with a spell of inactivity. His career is a mark against the Butchers, their GM's at the time and the league. Never lived up to his draft position or the contract he demanded coupled with his behaviour away from the field leaves him with a distinction of being one of biggest ever draft busts.
