Being pretty new to the league, it is difficult to single out someone as a definite draft bust. With that being said, the name that I have always heard thrown around when talking about league drama has been Sweet James Jones. Sweet James Jones was picked 6th Overall in the S19 Draft by the Chicago Butchers. In a Wide Receiver class that included standouts Rayne Gordon and Sean O’Leary, it is obvious that he clearly could not live up to the hype. Sweet James Jones not only lacked power on the field, but is known for his league ban and negative energy off the field. Since drafting Jones, Chicago have finished the year last in the NSFC 2/3 seasons. This season, it looks like they will finish last once again. It is understandable that they are in full on rebuild mode and its hard not to say the Sweet James Jones at least contributed to that in some form. It can be a bit dramatic to blame a franchise’s shortcomings solely on one pick, however this situation is one the bears repeating. Sweet James Jones was not only a bust but a demoralizing dark cloud that will loom over the Butchers franchise for some time. I think they can move on but it will take a slow steady rebuild, something that they have seen at their franchise for a long time.
