Killian Chambers was not a highly recruited football prospect coming out of high school. Chambers only played two seasons of football in high school. His junior season was spectacular, as he quickly worked his way up the depth chart and became the star wide receiver. He began to attract the attention of scouts from nearby colleges, the most notable being The University of New Mexico. Entering his senior season, expectations for Chambers were sky-high. Coaches from his high school thought he could attract the attention of top tier college programs with another great season.
Chambers' goal of having an even better season than his last went out the window once personal tragedy struck. His mother had died a week before his senior season. After taking an extended leave from the team, he came back midway through the season. His play was marred by inconsistent play, resulting in him being benched as it was clear he couldn’t focus on football.
After his poor senior season, Chambers thought he would never play football again. Unexpectedly, New Mexico offered him a full-tuition football scholarship. Chambers was buried on the depth chart his freshman year, but he was determined to get better and work his way into the starting lineup. He started seeing more playing time in his sophomore year. Unfortunately, his season was derailed by injuries. Entering his junior year, the top two receivers left the team after graduating, giving him the opportunity to be WR1. He took full advantage of this and had one of the greatest WR seasons in New Mexico school history. After overcoming personal tragedy and injury, Chambers decided to declare for the DSFL draft.
