Zamir was very highly recruited coming out of high school, and it wasn't that big of a surprise. If you've read his backstory you know how much of an athlete he was in high school. The raw talent was too much to pass up on, regardless of position. Zamir wanted to stay close to home, and even though he got lots of offers, he decided to go a smaller college in UTEP. Sure, they've had some good players come out, most notably Aaron Jones. Zamir wasn't guaranteed a starting spot freshman year when he was recruited, but he was fine with that. It said a lot more about the organization, and he wanted to play for a smart team, even if they didn't win a lot. Zamir beat out all the other starting corners in training camp, even the seniors, and he was slotted as a CB1 for his rookie game. As expected, Zamir played extremely well, and was a lockdown corner from day 1. Luckily, opposing QBs weren't as smart as they are in the pros, so he got plenty of opportunities to change the game. One thing many people do not know, is that Zamir actually played WR through his first few seasons in high school. This experience with playing receiver allowed Zamir to achieve the level of play he has today.
