As a kid growing up in Florida, football was a part of Harrison Andrews’ life from day one. He was raised in a family full of University of Florida alumni, so, naturally, he found himself cheering for the Florida Gators throughout his early years. As a high school football player, he dreamed of suiting up for the Gators and playing in front of a stadium full of 90,000 fans, but was he good enough? As the recruiting process progressed, Andrews was picking up offers left and right from universities across the country. There was one offer that continued to evade him, the University of Florida. That would soon change though. It was his senior season, and Andrews was warming up for a game to clinch the division championship. His coach called him aside and told him he had a surprise for him during the game, but wouldn’t say what it was. Fast forward to game time, and Andrews’ coach calls him over just before he heads out on the field to tell him he has a special visitor, gesturing towards the stands. It was the University of Florida’s head football coach. He had traveled to the game specifically to scout Andrews. Following a strong performance by Andrews, he was offered an athletic scholarship at his dream school, which he immediately accepted.
