Jeeeeroy Lenkins route to the pros was somewhat unorthodox when you compare him to his peers. Use to attending a small school and having never left Edinburgh Lenkins really struggled to adapt to his new life. Lenkins however was determined to make the most of his opportunity. Having been brought in via a suppport program Lenkins was not eligible to compete in sports in his first year.
After excelling in class Bowling Green University granted Lenkins a scholarship and he was allowed to start taking part in sports. Lenkins attended the Bowling Green open date and dominated in the slot forcing a couple fumbles. This may not normally be a big deal in an open day but these fumbles were from the teams leading rusher who had not fumbled at all the previous season. After this performance Lenkins managed to get himself a spot on the team but was red-shirted for the year.
In his third season at Bowling Green Lenkins was finally given the nod as the teams slot corner and punt return man.
In his first start of the season Lenkins made 6 tackles and returned 4 punts for an average of 30 yards. Throughout the season Lenkins was consistent having no game where he made less than 5 tackles. He finished the season with 2 punts returned for a touchdown, 60 tackles, 3 forced fumbles and 1 interception through 12 games.
