Doug Howlett of the Baltimore Hawks, previously of the Tijuana Luchadores, didn't go to college to play American Football. Instead he played rugby back in the day for the university of Auckland and this would have been prior to his age-reconstruction surgery. This would have been a time that was a potentially twenty one and a half years ago and was before Doug Howlett went and played professional rugby for the largest and most successful rugby organisations, the All Blacks. Doug Howlett finished his career in Munster before deciding to undergo the surgery to pursue a passion of his from when he was young, to play American Football. In order to do this successfully he decided to skip college and play in the minor leagues for the Tijuana Luchadores as a means to get his bearings in check before going into the majors. Needless to say, Howlett went on to have a great career for the Tijuana Luchadores, holding league leader in yards for two consecutive seasons and having the second only recorded back to back 1,000 yard seasons in DSFL history. Howlett went on to win Wide Receiver of the year in S24 and is having a firecracker start to his career in the ISFL.
