I sort of understand why HO appointed new GMs who would dismantle the entire previous regime and rebuild from scratch, although I'm still unclear on how much of that was the interim GMs and how much was HO. That said, if that's the plan that HO / the interim GMs / the new GMs are going with, they need to have the difficult conversations explaining that that's what their going to do with the current war room. Hard conversations suck but being honest and upfront with people is how you don't end up accidentally generating a 10 page drama thread.
Speaking of being honest and upfront, I think too many people are focusing on what Baltimore got out of the existing offers as they stood. Maybe more should be focusing on the fact that there were many teams interested (the article mentions Philly, Berlin, and Austin - Sarasota also had an offer on the table although I'm unsure whether Glims/Frazzle were ever informed about that (in any case we probably wouldn't have been able to outbid Austin/Berlin) ) and yet the new GMs pushed through a trade quickly without seeing if any of the other interested teams were willing to match Austin's offer.
I feel like this is a major response that sums it all up. Difficult conversations suck to have, but they needed to be had at a time like this. It seemed from the beginning that the plan was to add in new outside GMs and nobody in the war room or outside of those in the hiring process were told of this which led to a major problem when a lot of the war room wanted to see Glims and Frazzle take the reigns. They were told to apply as if they had a shot but instead that time was wasted since they were never going to be hired in the first place. Had the process been up front and honest, even if difficult, then this could have been avoided to this extent. Everyone ended up in a big mess of miscommunication and rushed out for getting to new teams and the new GMs rushed to find trades that could benefit the future as fast as they could. Miscommunication all around ended up being a major factor in all of this and, regardless of who's to blame, just know to be upfront and have difficult conversations.
