@infinitempg can chime in on this, but I believe surrender punts are a little less common in the new sim.
As Xenos said, you can actually have 50+ yard attempts (someone actually hit a freaking 58 yarder this season!!).
I have no idea if this was a thing before, but intelligence actually impacts your ability to get punt within the 20, too!
