While Zee was an excellent football player in high school, he wasn’t offered any football scholarships and wasn’t initially planning on going to college or playing football there, much less at the professional level. Fortunately Zee’s Dad talked him into going to college anyway, and since he was a Texas A&M alumni and football player, that’s where Zee went as well. Then when he got there he was asked to try out for the football team after a coach saw him working out. It wasn’t until after trying out for and making the team that Zee even considered the big leagues as even a remote possibility. Only once Zee got to college and excelled there did the possibility that he could play at the professional level even enter his mind. Had Zee not gone on to play professional football, he likely would have stayed home to work the family business with his Dad. The Rech’s family have been successful cattle ranchers for decades, and the quality of their beef is pretty well known in the United States, but ultimately Zee is happy to be playing football and not knee deep in mud and cow poop in the middle of the night instead! While he’s sure that his Dad is at least a little sad that he’s not continuing the family business, he knows that he is proud of his football career.
