Days following the Inaugural NSFL draft, Lavelle was nowhere to be seen. Vacant from the NSFL official prospect list, not even mentioned on the draft. Lavelle finally emerged days later, accompanied by a new agent not seen by his side before. Despite not even holding a press conference amidst all of the drama following his impressive collegiate career in Arizona. Lavelle didn't have to wait long, Yellowknife picked him up to become the first ever waiver player in NSFL history.
14 GP 57 TCK 1/1 FF/FR 4 INT 18 PD read Lavelle's stat line at the climax of the S1 regular season. Pro Bowl stats to be sure and Lavelle was more than happy to make an appearance, after all being recognized as one of the league's best in your waiver season is an honor.
14 GP 58 TCK 4 INT 15 PD. Lavelle's stats dropped off compared to his previous year, yielding a single less fumble recovery and forced fumble with three less pass deflections. Still good enough stats to be called up to his second consecutive pro bowl, this was Lavelle's make or break year, after taking over the #1 CB spot for Yellowknife ahead of the recently deposed Dirk Cutter. Not bad for his worst season ever ?
