The Lions Leap
In Vash’s junior year, he had the most memorable moment of arguably, the most important non-bowl game of The Buckeye’s Season; “The Game” against rival University of Michigan’s Wolverines. As the clock winds down to its final moments, with the game on the line, The Buckeyes are leading The Wolverines 40-35, with no time outs left. The Wolverines are at the 2 yard line, ready to hand the ball off Randall Ungstead, star running back, who managed 4 of Michigan’s 5 touchdowns that day. Vash Erikson scans the offense, reading the field of exhausted players, he hones in on Michigan’s center, Buck Hankerson’s heavy breathing, as his body fills and contracts with each breathe, Vash reads his movement. Like a lion stalking its prey, Vash carefully moves closer to the line, reading the weak chain, as Vash watches Buck take his final deep breath, Vash begins his assault, pouncing in the air, as the ball is being snapped. Vash clears the offensive line and pounces on Michigan’s quarterback, as the ball grasps his hands. Like the predatory roll of a lion striking that poor gazelle, that never stood a chance, neither did Michigan’s Lance Canter. “SACK, SACK, ERIKSON, MY GOD! OHIO STATE WINS” exclaims the television announcer, “Can you believe that Bill? *chuckles* I have to say that is by far one of the most spectacular acts of athleticism I’ve been witness to!”
Education First
While Vash may have been a superstar on the football field, he was also a superstar in the class room. Managing to make the deans honor roll at Ohio state, he continues his education after entering the pros, his thirst for knowledge has ceased to end. He continues to further his education and finish his Doctoral Degree in Kinesiology.
Second Preseason Game: Yetis v. Liberty
Vash was eager to impress the league, showing that he was a force to be reckoned with and an up and coming superstar. Vash managed 4 pass deflections and 2 interceptions in this outing. Giving the league a taste of what is to come.
