The first big moment of my career was the day of the NSFL’s Season 2 draft. I remember going into it thinking I was going to be a 5th round pick, and lesser known prospect who declared just a few days before the draft was set to take place. I didn’t have high expectations for my draft stock, and when the Liberty came calling and I found out where I was going in the 2nd round I couldn’t be happier. Philadelphia had been one of 2 teams that really stood out to me, and it felt like the GMs were really trying to communicate and they seemed like they really wanted to call my name when they could.
The next moment that I’ll never forget was a big day on two fronts. As a part of the expansion team, Philadelphia Liberty, we were a team full of rookies with the expectations that we would only have a few wins in S2. As expected we struggled early, and lost our first four games of the young season. The reigning NSFC champions, Colorado Yeti, were coming to Philly and everyone expected the Yeti to have their way with the young team. It was a close game, and with 3 minutes left Jameis Christ was able to lead the Liberty down the field and throw a touchdown to go up 18-14. The fate of the team was on the unproven defense now, and the Yeti looked like they were on their way to a game winning drive of their own. The last play of the game, Noble was looking for Law, trying to get a game winning TD, when I intercept the ball, end the game, and seal the Liberty’s first win as an NSFL team. It will probably be the greatest moment of my NSFL career, as going in I had struggled, and had not had an interception up to this point. This turned out to be the spark I needed for my NSFL career, as the struggles seemed to disappear in the 2nd half of the season.
Speaking of the struggles, the last big moment as of writing this was being named the Defensive Rookie of the Year for S2. I catapulted that game ending interception into 6 interceptions on the season, along with 12 passes defended. To be named DROY after an abysmal start to the season, to turn the season around like I did, it was fantastic to be recognized for it, and hopefully I hear a few more awards with my name on them.
