This week’s episode focuses on the relationship between Eric Kennedy and his girlfriend Amanda, who some locals may remember as the Queen of the 2008 Yellowknife Ice Sculpture Festival. Others may also remember her for just being that hot chick that hangs at the bar on Friday nights. Unexpectedly, a one-night stand with Amanda has turned into a full-blown relationship, starting with the night that Kennedy told Amanda that he had an alligator named Boudreaux back home in New Orleans. As expected out of a relationship that started with a lie, the whole thing has been a rocky trip from the start and Amanda finally called Eric out on his embellishments, suggesting that he probably doesn’t even own an alligator and that he needed to prove to her that their relationship didn’t start off on a lie.
So, Kennedy rents an alligator and flies Amanda back home to meet his family and the alligator, who both turn out to have not only similar personalities, but also similar levels of table etiquette. Knowing nothing about actually owning an alligator, Kennedy ended up putting it in an above ground and tried to swim with it, at which point the alligator attacked him in a moment that can only be described as painful to experience and hilarious to watch. As a result, Kennedy told his cousin Steve to return the alligator and demand a refund, fully revealing that he’s never owned an alligator, something he now seems proud of. Amanda promptly left on a plane and will no longer be appearing on the show. She asks producers not to be included in the final edit of the show, but she signed a contract and his presence is needed to help provide context for a scene involving a man being attacked by an alligator, so she can lawyer up as much as she wants, but she’s staying in this episode. For the record, while Kennedy’s injuries are painful and expect to cause discomfort for months to come, nothing vital was injured and he is expected to play through the severe discomfort without missing any game time.
