(S3) - PT #4 - Best at what they do

There are certainly tons of talented linebackers in the NSFL that I could talk about admiring here today. But I’m not in the NSFL. I’m still training up, trying to make a name for myself in the DSFL, so that’s what I’m going to write about.

I consider myself a decent tackler. Granted, I’m more about the intellectual chess match that goes on within each matchup, and I’m far from the most physically gifted athlete on the field. But not being the strongest guy, I have to have impeccable technique. I get a lot of that from my coaches and trainers, but there’s nothing like standing next to a guy and seeing it happen. That’s where it helps to have somebody to emulate.

Fortunately, I’ve got somebody to emulate right in my own locker room. Bert Macklin leads the DSFL in tackles, and as far as he and I are concerned in that respect, he’s miles ahead of me. He’s a hard hitter with perfect form and a nose for the ball. Those are all things that I aspire to demonstrate. Having only played in two games so far, I know I’ve got a lot to learn from just about everyone, but having Bert next to me on the field gives me invaluable opportunities to watch and learn from one of the most prolific defenders in the DSFL.
