Dominic Verns is the best hybrid player in the NSFL. Even though he only plays at linebacker half of the time, he is leading the league in tackles. He has also racked up 7 sacks as he gets involved in the pass rush. For a smaller guy at barely over 200 pounds he excels at stopping the run and breaking out of blocks to take down the quarterback. Verns even has 2 forced fumbles. His 95 speed is elite, even faster than most corners in the NSFL.
The other half of the time when Verns isn't in the front 7 he's covering a top tier wide receiver in the passing game. Verns has the second most passes defensed in the league, which is excellent for someone who isn't covering wide receivers half the time. If he was starting full-time at corner he would easily be the top corner in the league. He has 4 interceptions to go with it. He is easily the star player on the OC offense and has been the driving force in helping to keep their team in the game.
As the young defense improves having a player like Verns who has proven he has the ability to play almost anywhere on the defense is critical to their future success.
