There are no bonafide shut down corners in the NSFL, but one guy comes pretty damn close. Antoine Delacour. The Baltimore Hawks cornerback combines speed and anticipation to great effect as half of the best corner pairing in the NSFC. Since the end of last year's regular season, the defensive back has been paired up with, and managed to restrict two of the league's best receivers to zero catches. Just three players have lined up directly opposite Delacour this season and ended the game with more than 100 yards.
All this in the face of doubts and criticisms from all sides. Antoine Delacour is the league's best at proving doubters wrong. Despite his impressive performances through three seasons in the league, many will still overlook the Hawks corner when discussing the league's top defensive backs, instead looking to Carter or Flock on the Outlaws, Verns in Orange County, or Lavelle at the Wraiths, for example. But this only serves to drive the man from Lafayette.
Since entering the pros, Delacour's football IQ has continued to improve week after week, and he has even increased his already impressive speed significantly, to become the league's fastest defensive player. After many suspected he would struggle in man coverage against the league's bigger receivers, and after many predicted the Hawks secondary would falter... Delacour pushed beyond whatever limits they thought he had, and proved them all wrong.
