Prior to the Wraiths stunning implosion, the least-talked about conspiracy in the league was the team's league-controlling cabal. Although the team is now on the outside of the playoffs looking in, it's still worth investigating their stranglehold on league affairs. Of course, it all starts at the top, as one of their most prominent players just happens to be the league commissioner. And with super-users RainDelay and KcKolbe also suiting up for Yellowknife, the team has much in the way of soft HO influence.
Unlike ErMura and the Outlaws, who are obviously rigging the league[1], the Wraiths succeed by keeping their activities on the DL and throwing the rest of us off their scent. Just as Daybe was beginning to acquire power, they traded him to Colorado for a bag of peanuts[2]. And Archon, who was quickly becoming the league's most notorious member, disappeared for "personal reasons" [3], perhaps another person taken out by Bzerkap.
Despite their current lack of success, it's the Wraiths, not the Outlaws, who are using subversive measures to their own advantage. Instead of cheating to win, they're cheating to lose.
[1] I know it's all jokes, but nothing sets narratives more quickly than humor. Running jokes become embedded as common accepted knowledge far faster than we think. It's probably not healthy for the league that we all joke about a team having a really awesome run of success being a collection of cheaters.
[2] No disrespect to Wyatt Fulton and whoever else was involved in the trade, accuracy is often sacrificed for literary flurry.
[3] Seriously guys, can we be nicer to people.
