Offensive Comparison: Compare one offensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point.
With several high quality quarterbacks here in the NSFL, it was difficult to choose the two offensive players to compare. Two of the most dominant however, have been Arizona's King Bronko and the Otters QB, Mike Boss. Both have had terrific seasons for their respective teams especially Boss who is in strong contention, if not favoritism for QBOTY. His combinations with Orange County's Robert Phelps and Bradley Westfield has been amazing to watch as an NSFL fan here in season 3. His 4649 yards from 624 attempts coupled with a completion rating of just under 61(60.9 to be exact) and a stellar 30 touchdowns were the catalysts for Orange County's somewhat successful play. Allowing only 12 interceptions and finishing the season with a Passer Rating of 91.9, Mike Boss has shown why he will command a big dollar deal this off-season and the Otters will be hoping he's wearing the orange uniform again in S4.
Over in Arizona, the Outlaws have once again been led to the promised land by the ever reliable King Bronko and his 25 touchdown, 3650 yard season. With another excellent passer rating of 91.6, his 495 pass attempts were a complement to the strong running game that they used for the majority of the season. While not quite putting up Boss-like numbers, he's been key to the Outlaws 3rd straight Ultimus appearance and will be looking to be a difference maker up against the Baltimore Hawks.
Bottom Half: Write about why two of the four teams were not able to make the playoffs.
The NSFL works in mysterious ways and explaining why two of the teams didn't make the playoffs is like trying to explain how Donald "Pumpkin Head" Trump ended up as the president. Who the hell knows? Still, I'll attempt to come up with some reasoning for why the first of these two teams, the Colorado Yeti, finished dead last in the NSFC and stood no chance of experiencing the post-season. Having Logan Noble as both GM and their star quarterback was a death sentence for the Yeti. Having such an important piece of the team suspended for several infractions tore out their heart and ruined their offensive capabilities. Players wanted out, demanding trades to other teams and no longer wanting to be associated with the Yeti franchise and the replacement GM complied too easily, trading away active players for draft picks, and leaving the team to simply tank the season in preparation for a rebuild. Whether that approach works out, remains to be seen, as the upcoming draft isn't as deep as expected so the team from Colorado might be in for yet another long and painful season.
More of a shock as far as teams missing from the playoff's, was the usually strong Yellowknife Wraiths. Favored in the division by some so called "experts" in the NSFL, the Wraiths proved disappointing and offered little for their fans. They didn't have much to crow about during the season but a 34-9 demolition of Orange County in the third week of the season offered a glimmer of hope, which was soon dashed by crucial losses to aforementioned Colorado Yeti in week nine and a devastating 31-28 loss to the Sabercats in week twelve that crushed their hopes of a post-season appearance. Unlike the Yeti, the Sabercats had a good roster that should have been more competitive in season 3. Led by such talent as Orosz and Nuck, surely season four will see a return to the playoffs for the boys from Yellowknife.
