Nicholas Pierno has been dealing with knee issues since his senior year of college, so much of the summer was spent coming back to full strength. Pierno was the leading rusher amongst quarterbacks in the NSFL as a rookie, but he believes he can eventually be one of the leading rushers PERIOD in the league should he get back to full strength. He spent the summer back in Raleigh, N.C., where he made use of NC State’s top-notch practice facilities to work on his arm and then to the sports medicine program at UNC-Chapel Hill to work on rehabbing his knee. He invited a few Yeti players, such as running back Boss Tweed and rookie wide receiver Tommy Brown, out to North Carolina to spend time working out in Raleigh before spending the weekends out to the coast to spend time on the beach. They trio grew extremely close, which is promising as they took to become the Yeti’s offensive cornerstones for the foreseeable future. After Jaquan Young fell off the map, Pierno is glad to have teammates he can now rely on to be as committed to improving to be the best they can as he is. They ate a lot of Cook Out trays but still lookin’ lean.
