Growing up, Kennedy didn’t voluntarily spend a lot of time playing sports. His family was full of Saints and LSU fans, so he followed those teams as a kid, but as a young boy, he was very scrawny and struggled when he was forced to play contact sports in PE. However, around the age of 12, he started weight lifting in order to gain weight and gain more confidence about himself. He quickly grew to enjoy this activity and dedicated himself to it. He never competed, but he was very active and his participation in this activity is as close as he came to any competitive sport.
Oddly enough, that confidence did lead to him trying out for the high school football team. It was difficult, especially in his first year, but he persevered and refused to give up. Over the years, as the weight lifting helped him grow in size, he also grew in confidence and began to perform better on the field. And it was that confidence that led him to earn the opportunity to play for the LSU Tigers, one of the two teams he grew up watching as a young fan. And, if not for his venture into the weight room, Kennedy would not be where he is today.
