I’m going to write about a team that made exactly zero moves in free agency, the Baltimore Hawks. It wasn’t for lack of trying, as they pursued multiple big names, that just didn’t pan out for one reason or another. There were however, some massive changes to their roster. A total of five, yes five(!) players changed positions for them, and so far, it seems to be going well. However, I will only be talking about two of them, Avon Blocksdale and Dieter Koch. Blocksdale was perhaps the most high-profile move as he made the change to quarterback. While his performance hasn’t led the NSFL, take away his one bad game, and his numbers are within the top half of the league. He is currently fourth in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. Look for Blocksdale to continue to improve as he further acclimates himself to the position. Dieter Koch, on the other hand, made the move to fullback. An interesting twist, Koch decided to go the incredibly unselfish route of a run-blocking back, hoping to make room for another position change, Owen Taylor. Koch’s choice to move has been a boon for the Hawks as not only does he excel at opening holes for Taylor, but he has also been a phenomenal pass catcher out of the back field.
