One of the most significant free agency signings this past offseason — and one of the only ones I know, because the DSFL is clearly better — was Josh Garden to the 3-time reigning champions, the Arizona Outlaws. The elite Wide Receiver who joined the league in season 1 is a speed receiver, known for his big play ability and talent at beating cornerbacks outside.
Last season, Garden played with the Yellowknife Wraiths where he posted big numbers: 10 touchdowns (T-3rd), 68 receptions (8th), 1,125 yards (8th), and 16.5 yards per reception (T-9th). So far this season with the Outlaws, he’s averaging 16.5 yards per reception again... but less than halfway through the season, he’s at a monster 7 touchdowns, 43 receptions, and a league high 708 yards. If he keeps up this level of play, Garden is certain to break the NSFL single-season touchdown record, and has a pretty good shot at the receiving yards record too. One thing to watch out for is that the other GMs all know this info. They’ll be spending all week before a game in Arizona looking for ways to gameplan against him. The question is, will they be successful? I’d predict not.
To summarize: Josh Garden was an amazing offseason pick up by the Outlaws. If your opponent has him in fantasy football, I pity you.
