Back before the Season 1 NSFL draft, only one team contacted Boss Tweed. This team was the Yellowknife Wraiths. As they already had Bubba Nuck as their established started, the Wraiths were only looking for a backup running back and saw Tweed as a potential candidate from that role, telling him that running back was not a position of priority for them but that Tweed was high on their board of running backs. After 16 rounds had gone by, every team had already selected a starting running back and most had already locked down a back up as well. With the second pick in the seventeenth round, #98 overall, the Wraiths decided to take their backup running back. However, instead of Boss Tweed, they opted to select Jack Stats instead. Boss Tweed was selected a pick later by the Colorado Yeti. At the time, it seemed insignificant which backup running back the teams took, nobody was expecting a seventeenth round pick to amount to much. However, Tweed has now become a top player in the draft and is looking like one of the best steals in NSFL history. It's hard to tell how close the Wraiths were to actually selecting Tweed, but it is interesting to wonder how Tweed's career would have gone differently if he were selected by the Wraiths instead. He wouldn't have gotten much playing time early on playing behind the Season 1 MVP, Bubba Nuck. After Season 1, the league expanded. With a starting running back already established, would the Wraiths have sent Tweed to either the Liberty or the Legion? They did leave Jack Stats unprotected in the expansion draft and he ended up heading to Las Vegas. However, Tweed had shown much more potential and put in many more training hours, so it is possible that the Wraiths would have looked for a way to keep him around. Perhaps Tweed would no longer be a running back and would have been switched to a different position instead. Also, it could have impacted the fates of two franchises. If the Wraiths had Tweed, the Yeti would have been missing their top running back in Season 1 and its possible the Wraiths would have made the Ultimus instead and maybe would have become the innagural champions of the NSFL. If this happened, maybe the Wraiths would have become the league powerhouse instead of the Outlaws. With an extra talented player, the Wraiths also may have had an extra edge to win the conference in Season 2 or make the playoffs in Season 3. It is hard to tell how much of a difference it would have made, but Tweed's career path could have different completely and the competitive fabric of the league could have been much different if the Wraiths had chosen to select Tweed over Stats with a seemingly irrelevant seventeenth round pick.
