Darren Morris has had a very short career to this point, so there aren’t many decisions that would have impacted his career path. The most obvious, as well as the largest by far, would be the decision of the San Antonio Marshals to draft Morris 17th overall in the S4 DSFL Entry Draft. The Marshals had been one of the teams to contact Morris before the draft, so he knew that he might be on their radar, and it was pure excitement on the young rookie’s face as he got called in the 3rd round.
Had the Marshals not decided to take Morris at the 17th spot, the next defensive player went off the board at the 20th spot to Ben Urlacher to the Marshals as well – giving them a second spot to choose the fictionally undrafted-as-yet Morris. Kansas City Coyotes were the next team up picking a defensive player at 22nd with Jacob Lattimore. Morris with the Coyotes would be similar to his role on the Marshals: backing up an elite secondary comprised of elite cornerbacks, this fictional situation with the highly touted Andre Bly Jr. rather than Morris’ current CB partner Gregory Fletcher. It seems destined that Morris was meant to play for the San Antonio Marshals however, with the defensive theme that Marshal management used and the bulk of picks they had around his draft spot.
