Attending school at U.C Davis and being 6 foot 4 inches. Turkleton was a perfect candidate to join the rowing team. Which he joined next to being a part of the football team. Turkleton was a great rower and was making big splashes in the college rowing league. No matter what the category was he was killing it. Singles, doubles or the bigger rowing boats. While he was very good at it, competing in the highest levels was like an up wave battle and it was cutting into his football time.

It got to the point where Turkleton had to sit down and think about his future. On one had was rowing, a sport he had grown quite fond of and was working towards big titles. Then there was football, the thrill of kicking the ball for an extra point or a field goal was a great feeling that he loved having. He just couldn't decide. His rowing team qualified for the nation wide championships, but they were being held on the same day as the football finals. This was the big choice. He ended up going for football, who knows where Turkleton would be if he had gone with rowing.
