(S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls

Looking back at the career of Angus Winchester it's difficult to select on pivotal moment that changed everything. That was, until the changes to the offensive line were announced. With the position becoming less valuable to a team it was apparent that Angus Winchester would need to find a new niche. And that is when the decision to change to linebacker came about.

The fact is that Winchester had looked at moving to no less than 5 different positions. Quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker, defensive lineman, and cornerback were all considered and evaluated for their efficacy. Some stood out more than others, but in many ways the decision was not clear cut. The decision to move to linebacker was based on actual performance (both personal and team), as well as intuition.

Once that was decided that linebacker was going to be the place to be, Winchester then had to determine what style would work best in the Orange County Offense, and how to leverage his strengths to make plays. The decision to go with a balanced linebacker was again part intuition and part analytics. It wasn't an obvious choice, but I think the correct one was made. And so the rest of Winchester's career began.
