The decision to commit to football full time in college was probably the most career defining thing for William Ridley. Tossing up between a golf scholarship in Arizona or staying in Tennessee to play for UTenn was one of the biggest questions ever posited to the young man. Football had always been his passion, and obviously we know how the story ends, but for the longest time there were some real question marks around Ridley and where he would get offers to play college ball. Without any offers early as the blue chip prospects fell off the board, Ridley was left with a handful of college golf scholarships, which Ridley saw as an opportunity to play golf regularly while attaining a college education.
If life had been different Ridley would have hoped to be writing for the NSFLN or ESPN while making a name for himself. His main ambition is to get into the broadcast booth one day, and he is definitely looking forward to that opportunity if it presents itself to him after his playing days are over. Ridley currently takes courses by correspondence to continue to upskill himself in the chances an injury rubs him out of the game before he is ready, but considering his qualifications, he will be prepared for what comes next.
