In the early hours on a Sunday morning, all silence was abruptly disturbed as a car came speeding down the deserted highway. A local state trooper had to glance at his laser based radar detection system multiple times before he could believe what he saw. As quickly as it had approached, it was gone. A silver blur in the darkness. As he put his cruiser into drive, he knew he had some ground to make up. The car that had just passed him was driving in excess of 140 miles per hour. The trooper knew that in the time it took for him to realize the situation and spring into action, the car was already more than a mile down the road. Catching up to the vehicle was not a likely option. He was able to radio ahead where another officer was able to stop the speeding car. Behind the wheel was none other than Trey Willie of the NSFL’s Baltimore Hawks. When asked about the excessive speed, it was reported that Willie’s response was, “Sorry officer, I did not know that I couldn’t do that.” Willie was immediately arrested and booked on charges of speeding and reckless driving. He immediately posted bail and is free in time for tonight’s game in Philadelphia.
