Breaking News: Maryland local police officers are reporting the arrest of DSFL Wide Receiver John Wachter. According to witnesses in attendance, a brawl broke out in the middle of Saturday Night's happy hour at the Seahorse Inn and Wachter got involved. The physical altercation was primarily between two men: Joseph Bloomberg and Michael Fidorawitz, but multiple secondary arrests were made. Most notable of those arrests was Wachter. Local officers on the scene say the DSFL rookie got in between the men, pushing one into a nearby crowd that had gathered and tackling another to the ground. They say his initial intention seemed to be to hold Bloomberg on the ground, but when the latter bit him on his hand the situation elevated. Wachter landed at least three heavy shots to Bloomberg's face, causing bruising and a minor laceration. We spoke with him briefly following the incident.
"I don't know how many I had, too much obviously. Look, it was a wrong place wrong time kind of deal, I have no history of anything like this and I was just trying to do the right thing. Should I have hit the guy? Obviously not, and yeah I'm a bit disappointed my instincts went there, but lets not act like he was innocent. He started the whole deal, then kept it going once I tried to stop it. He already got what was coming for him, now I get the same treatment. I'll be telling my bosses all about the situation when I get out tomorrow, and I'm hoping I don't lose playing time over it. This is a one time problem."
Wachter is expected to be released on bail later this evening.
