Now, I'd like to specify, when I write this, I write this from the perspective of myself, a Linebacker, not someone outside the league looking in like most.
For me? Borkus hypes me up. Now of course I could give the normal spiel about how him being the number one pick both shows how good he can be, or how high his expectations are, but I have a different take in mind. Borkus gets me so riled up, so ready to see how he does, because he is a target for players like me. He's a tall, pocket-passing, 280 pound behemoth with a bulls-eye painted directly on his back. My duty on this team as a power-rushing linebacker is to over-power my lineman and just wreck guys like him, hitting them into the dirt over and over again. On top of that, since he's a #1 overall pick, you know he's gonna do well, which means I'll just get more rushes called for myself. I get to try and stop him. I get to rush him, and I get to sack him, I get to try and pound in the message that it's gonna be tough from here on out, and I get to force him into making mistakes. I have a goal to aim for when he gets on the field, and that is what makes me hyped up about him. So hey, if you're reading this Borkus, watch your back on the field, because I'll be coming for you. Every. Single. Play.
I would, however, like to end this by saying I have the utmost respect for him as a player, and as a person. I'm so happy he got the first pick of the draft, and I hope the best for him. Just not in a game with me on a defense, of course.
