Rayne Gordon is the biggest bust this league has ever seen. I mean how do you get drafted and go to a powerhouse team like the Yellow Knife Wraiths, only to be the 2nd string WR and at times behind Swift and Orien Drake on the depth chart?

Not only that, but he was barely used as a deep threat and hardly used as a return man as well. Just not good value for someone who came into the league with much fanfare and hoopla.

Then he decides to bail on the team that took a chance on him to co-GM an expansion team in Sarasota. Think about that for a while, he goes from a championship team, albeit losers of 4 straight Ultimus' to an expansion team because he couldn't cut their depth chart. What a waste of a pick.

In Sarasota, things didn't go well for him either. Even as a Co-GM they had to pick up a #1 WR in Jed because Rayne knew he couldn't carry the spotlight himself. His one career highlight is a 105 KR return this year.. and even then it's like.. wow.. what else have you done for me?

The league had high hopes for Mr Gordon and so far he's more like Charles Rodgers

It looks like there are a fair amount of posts around the same few people as busts so I decided to just pick a player randomly from the list that infinite posted ( thank you to infinite for the prompts and for the hints as to why these players are busts, this was really helpful to a newer player). I’m going to review Lucius Kaine, who was selected 4OA in S13 by the Arizona Outlaws. Kaine was a first round DSFL selection to the Portland Pythons out of Ohio State who would light up the DSFL out of the gate, ending the season with the most pure receiving yards as a rookie with 747 yards. He was highly touted out of the DSFL and would go 4th overall to Arizona, but soon after controversy would throw everything off. I’m not too well-versed on the history of the NSFL or the punishments that it has given out, but it looks like Lucius Kaine was owned by Noble, who got in trouble for using a bunch of multis and was suspended from the league. Noble’s suspension caused all of his players to be retired, which meant Arizona lost their first round draft pick in the same year that they had drafted them. While Kaine’s career can only be speculative at this point, it would be tough to match the career of another wide receiver that was drafted after him in Nate Swift. Not only was this a bad pick due to the player’s indefinite suspension, but had Kaine played out his career he could have ended as the second best wide receiver to come out of S13.

The biggest bust in my eyes was the Chicago Butchers selecting Ben Tuinukuafe with the first pick of the second round in the 16th season of the National Simulation Football League.

This pick was exceptionally bad for multiple reasons. Primarily because Ben sat on the bench as one of the BEST Offensive lines and after his contract expired he went and won a ring with NOLA. See what I've done here? I've taken the question and turned it topsy turvy. This is a special case where the player himself wasn't the bust, but the organisation selecting and then sitting a player was the bust.

Special sources close to the player have spoken to me and told me that the player was unhappy when drafted as he wasn't approached before being drafted. This speaks volumes of the management at the time. They spent a premium, second round on an Offensive line prodigy to only not play him and watch him leave and play and win a championship with another team.

As mentioned earlier this is a true bust up of a situation rather than a player themselves and I am sure the Butchers are kicking themselves now, knowing they let a great offensive weapon like that walk.

"Sweet James Jones", those three words could cause any Chicago Butchers fan to have an aneurysm. A top prospect with a hostile attitude, the Butchers would take him sixth overall in the S19 draft. In the middle of a win or bust attitude from the young franchise, a chance was taken on the loud mouthed and toxic WR from the Solar Bears. Immediately starting trouble for the Butchers after being drafted, he had exorbitant contract demands, trying his hardest to milk whatever money he could out of a Butchers team already struggling with cap issues. After a 1 year 7.5 mil "prove it" contract, his performance was lackluster, and his off the field issues were becoming worse and worse. Threatening others, disrespectful behavior and overall toxic behavior showed why all the other teams avoided him like the plauge. He was soon out of the league after his first season, and it was clear that nobody wanted him to return. He was banned from the league, and became a cautionary tale for other franchises on why toxic behavior can drop a draft stock so quickly. The Butchers would soon have to go into a complete rebuild shortly after Jones left, with cap issues and lopsided trades being a big cause thanks to the damage caused by Jones. The Butchers are on the upswing with a lot of young talent, but the bad taste of SJJ still lingers around to this day.
