Defensive lineman of the year it's hard to make an argument for anyone besides Gregor Clegane. That man is a machine this year. He is currently tied with rookie teammate Dlineman Ryan Sierra for sacks, and is ahead of the next closest Dlineman Dan Miller by 2 and Eli Kamaka by 3. But even better he is also tallying 6 tackles for a loss, tied for 1st among DTs. Even if you consider TFLs and Sacks to be equal, he has 17 combined, above the DEs who have 16 combined which are mostly TFLs (which are usually for a much less significant yardage loss). Sure there's only 20 tackles, but he's there to blow up the play, not clean up, that's the job of the linebackers around him.

Shit, I ran out of stuff to talk about. So let's go back to Ryan Sierra, who with his 11 sacks is also worthy of a defensive rookie of the year award. This kid is killing dudes out there. He doesn't have the TFLs of Clegane, but is every bit a force on the interior of the line and dominating at his position. And yeah yeah Terrel Brister whatever. Ryan Sierra is better. He is surrounded by sack machines on the OCO defense and he still manages to beat out much more experienced teammates and get something to eat.

Admittedly, I've been away from the league for too long to be able to have truly meaningful input regarding people worthy of awards this year. I see a lot of familiar names and faces, which is encouraging, and a lot of new ones in high positions, which is great too!

Since coming back, I've had a spate of "welcome" replies whenever I've posted, and it feels good to be welcomed back into the community. I must say, though, that the only DSFL GM's to get in contact were Jaskins and Payton of the Tijuana Luchadores. They immediately got in touch to give me a personl welcome back, offer their assistance, and express interest in signing me.

From the start of the league it was drilled into us that player retention would be crucial for the survival of the NSFL, so it's encouraging to have immediately encountered two GM's who both have an interest in keeping this league active, and in seeing their team succeed.

From what I understand I will soon become a member of the Luchadores, and I couldn't be happier. For what it's worth, I'd like to vote for Jaskins and Payton as DSFL GM's of the year.

Clee Hardrool is making a real case for DPOY, as we head into week 12 Hardrool stands with 61 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 6 pass deflections and 6 interceptions to go along with his 1 defensive touchdown.

Hardrool has been the anchor for the Wraiths and is even more heavily relied on since the Wraiths trade Jogn Floggity to the Outlaws. However Lavelle and the recently developing Marcus Kane have helped to subtract from his overall workload.

Hardrool comes off a stellar season which was only ruined by a loss in the Ultimus final to none other than the Orange County Otters. This year looks to be much of the same except the 20k population of Yellowknife will no doubt hope and pray for a different outcome to this chapter of the franchise's history.

The Orange County Otters currently look to be on the same path and what's looking like a S4 Ultimus rematch in the works, this game will come down to playmakers, people who can make plays and S5 DPOY hopeful Clee Hardrool might just be that guy for Yellowknife. Only time will tell if this man's going to keep up the superb form from last and most of this season and if he'll be walking up the NSFL S5 awards show stage at the climax of this season.

I think I pretty much wrote the same thing last season, but PDXBaller is by far the most valuable GM in the DSFL, if not the most valuable GM on this site. The way he has groomed players for the NSFL has only made the league better as a whole. Last season, he managed to a) win the Ultimini after not making the playoffs the season prior and B) groomed 3 300 TPE players, which happened to be 3 of the first 4 picks of the draft. Most people would looks at this and say "Wow. What a great GM". And most people did. But then PDX raised his game, big time. This season, he has the most active players with 10. He's only lost 2 players to inactivity. The other DSFL teams only have 4 or 5 active players, with many more inactives. It's been astonishing how PDX has manged to build teams that everyone wants to be part of and win championships at the same time. Also, thanks to Payton, we can also see that it's not just 10 Python players updating here and there, the Pythons are majorly in the lead for active TPE gains. Again, something PDX has a huge part in. Honestly, I'd say PDX should go to the NSFL and show off his talents there, but I honestly think the DSFL would die, and the NSFL would be worse off for it due to his player motivation and team building abilities. He's incredible and I hope HO recognizes him for all he does for this site. Send this guy to the HOF.

As every one knows the offense of the Baltimore Hawks is much improved this year. Star QB Avon Blocksdale is playing well and Trey Willie is a monster as per usual. Alexandre LeClair as been added to the team and he has been superb (and is in the running for breakout player of the year). But the addition we're talking about today is the HANDS DOWN offensive rookie for the year John Wacther. Wachter has been incredible for the Hawks. The reliable slot receiver / Tight End has 62 catches on the year (first among rookies) 652 receiving yards (first among rookies) and 6 receiving Touchdowns (first among rookies). He should have gone first overall but the Colorado Yeti chose Carlito Crush instead. John Wachter is leading rookies in yards from scrimmage and total touchowns. There really is no comparison to him on the field. The receiver was the DSFL MVP and player of the year last year playing for the Portland Pythons. Rookies have trouble making an impact in the NSFL right away, but that is not true for Wachter as he has easily picked up where he left off for the Hawks as he did when he was a Python. I don't know if he'll make the Pro Bowl, but he'll easily win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

As I stated earlier I think Kennedy, E. has to be one of the top choices as the MVP for the league. The guy has played spectacular and has risen past the expectations of many. His ability to be open and help keep the offense rolling is the main reason why the Wraiths sit where they are right now. Through 11 games he has 1474 receiving yards with 11 touchdowns. Those are really good numbers. Compared to B. Westfield who has 1421 and is right behind Kennedy from this standpoint they are both having great years and are pretty similar. The big difference between the two is that Kennedy sits comfortably with how many receptions he has. Sitting with a 111 while the next closest is C. Tanner with 85. So you see Kennedy is not only getting the yardage the team needs, he is the one man army when it comes to the Wraiths offense. It's clear that Akselsen, M. loves his receiver and the decision to convert him as a wideout has greatly turned the Wraiths into a dangerous team. I dont think we have ever seen such dangerous duo of Akselsen, M. and Kennedy in a long time.

Angus Winchester. A name that has been on every set of lips when it comes to DPOY. How can he not be? 80+ Tackles. 14 sacks. 9 PDs. 2 FFs. Even while the monster defense around him excels at every level, Winchester has been a beast. Disrupting games, causing havoc, and generally forcing offenses to panic as he leads his cadre of murderers (not to be confused with Jaxon Tuck).

That's why Harrif Ernston is the DPOY.

Harrif Ernston has 80+ tackles. He's going to finish the season with 10+ sacks, though most likely still behind Winchester and his four teammates who are achieving similar levels of sacking success in the team's defense. He has far more tackles for loss than Winchester, more PDs, and even nabbed a couple of interceptions, compared to zero for Winchester. His numbers are very comparable to Winchester's. And he did it by leading a somewhat more modest unit. A unit where it was clear that he was the main force. Ernston wreaked just as much havoc as Winchester and he did it with less backup and with offensive coordinators coming right for him. The Outlaws still fight for their playoff lives, with every game being the most important. And Ernston is in the midst of it, tearing offenses apart wherever he goes, and without the help of four additional teammates getting double digit sack totals.

The award is Defensive Player of the Year after all. Not Defensive System of the Year or Defensive Group of the Year. An award that Ryan Sierra, Gregor Clegane, Ian Bavitz, Julian O'Sullivan, and Angus Winchester would handily win with their combined 50+ sacks, of which Winchester is a contributing part.

Brian Mills(@PaytonM34) on the Tijuana Luchadores should be considered for the DSFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He’s easily the hardest working guy in the DSFL and is now a GM for his team which is a testament to how confident the league is in his activity. He’s got the best TPE out of true DSFL rookies at 166 and shows no signs of stopping even after the season is through. He leads all defensive players in tackles right now with 120 and has 3 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 pass deflection. As you can see that’s an amazing stat line. This linebacker can do it all and provides the type of defense that has made Tijuana one of the scariest teams to face because of his ability to stop the run and his linebacker mate, Elvin Enchant, provides the coverage defense. The Luchadores are 3rd in the league in defense for points and have held opponents to 2 scores or less in the last 4 games. I think they have finally hit their stride despite a slow start and should be able to topple the San Antonio Marshals powerhouse to make it to the playoffs for the second time in a row.

It might sound biased as I am writing about my own player, but I truly believe that Alexandre LeClair should claim the Breakout Player of the Year award. Sure he was nominated back in Season 2 but the difference between S4 and S5 is incredible. In Season 4, LeClair had a total of 771 yards received and 6 touchdowns. Both these numbers were eclipsed come mid-season in S5, currently sporting 1344 yards received and 8 toiuchdowns in 12 games played. Furthermore, LeClair is currently the leading kick returner in the entire league with 1016 yards returned which is on pace to beat his career best.

Alexandre LeClair was always regarded as a good player, even during his 3 season stay on the struggling Las Vegas Legion, but it wasn't until this season that he truly came into his own and became an offensive threat on the Baltimore Hawks. His route running style has given space to Trey Willie on the field and that has shown with him crushing his touchdown totals this season. Furthermore, John Wachter has been able to slot in between the two and produce 8 touchdowns himself in his rookie season. There is no doubt that LeClair brings much more to the table than raw stats and in this Hawks offense he has become the spark on offense that Baltimore needed.

Call me biased, but you know what fuck it. Im writing this before the friday sims, and im writing it as if the Outlaws made the playoffs lets do this.

I believe Ryan Pace (me) and Adam Ess (AdamS) Deserve to be gm and co gm of the year. It sounds like I'm bragging but listen to me. We lost a big chunck of our team because of the er scandal, we lost 2 starting OLine, 1 Linebacker, and 1 kicker. It doesnt sound that bad, but if you go back and look at their TPE total at the time of the ban you would see they were huge TPE earners. Even with all that happening, the Outlaws made the playoffs. In a season where everyone counted us out and said we would not be able to make the playoffs and would be one of the worst teams, we still are in the playoffs. And we will probably lose, but even so. What a huge jump and battle we made the playoffs. The Sabercats missed the playoffs, again and I really dont understand how. They shouldve beat us at home, and probably away as well, yet they lost both games. Even so, Adam and I have done a good job of bringing this team to where they belong, the playoffs baby!
