(S9) - PT 3 - Past Events

The "Los Lobos Incident" is not something that many people will talk about or even remember. Hell, there are a few people who were involved in it who probably have no memory of it. Way back in the days of S4 or S5, somewhere around there. The DSFL had an activity problem. Not just from the players, but from certain GMs as well. Someone came up with the bright idea of taking two of the teams and making them "bot teams". But that's just the setup to this story.
You see, infamous GM Alexandra Jones wasn't quite infamous just yet. While she had publicly fired a GM before and ran her own team into the ground, she was allowed to take on a different franchise. Alexa was offered a job with the Kansas City Coyotes, but not quite. When she made the announcement of her hire, she was very specific about how she was joining "the Coyotes Organization". It had been a part of her deal to join the Coyotes if the team agreed to move to Chicago, this because her Blues team would be leaving for Palm Beach. She had planned a rebrand of colors, logo, and even a nickname. She insisted on calling the new Chicago Coyotes "Los Lobos". This did not sit well with many players and fans and by the end of the season, Jones was out in Chicago and the Coyotes were out of Chicago.

One event that occurred that many people have agreed to put behind them would have to be the multiple account scandal put on by one who at a point was heralded as a league savior. This individual went on to create multiple accounts, earn tpe for all the players, hold league jobs for a couple different account, and manage the league simmer role. All of this effort just to win a couple fake trophies in a fantasy fantasy football league.

There’s also the mass retirement on the Las Vegas Legion that caused that team to suffer even more to the point they had to change their name just to escape the history. They did a good job picking a distracting name because now people are too busy wondering why there’s a football team called the second line.

There was also dumbass Logan Noble, the most popular kid in Saskatoon Canada. He was a kid who decided that his efforts in the league warranted him free tpe. This went on for a while before he was finally caught. He then may or may not have attempted to have multiple accounts. While I don’t remember all the details completely, I will never forget the mole on the kids face that Noble conned into being the fall guy in the photograph.

On October 15th, the Head Office made two announcements regarding the Las Vegas Legion, then the worst team in the league.

Announcement #1: Fuck the Legion
Announcement #2: And the horse they rode in on

The first announcement was that the Legion had accidentally gone over the cap in calling up a DSFL prospect. Note that this was S3, the FIRST DSFL season, which was a clusterfuck for all involved. Note that they were the ONLY team to call up a player that year during the season. Finally, note that there had been at least 3 documented cases of teams exceeding the cap in prior seasons, all without penalty.

The second announcement was that a bet involving kckolbe and then-GM ravensfanfromontario, which would have resulted in Kevin Cushing going to the Las Vegas Legion, and had been on the books for a little over a month, was voided. This bet, which at that point represented the only instance of an active player choosing to come to the Legion, was now dead, and they would now have less cap space going into free agency, the FIRST major FA period of the league.

Coming into the season it was pretty clear that the team with the most holes to fill and clearly in midst of a huge rebuild was the Philadelphia Liberty. Not only were/are we devoid of a ton of talent at the moment, but the team management was in a bit of disarray for a bit as both general manager and co-general managers stepped down. Adam and I both stepped in willing to take the team over. Adam handled pretty much everything from the get go in regards to player management. I helped out some getting second opinions on some of the draftees and what not. We had the draft and came out with a decent group of players, most of which would be going back down to the DSFL. Not only did we send down most of the draftees, but despite running defenses that needed 5 defensive backs at times we sent down a corner. We also signed Logan Noble as tank commander and traded away Bubba Nuck. From there things kind of went weird. I was asked to turn down Noble's passing so I did some tweaking. Then I did some more tweaking. I was more or less getting myself used to testing out strategies and depth charts, you know, for future use when we actually had a full roster again. It turns out I may have done a little too much as not only did we win games at the Sabercats and at the Outlaws, but less than 24 hours ago it looked like we were hanging in there against the Hawks.

The moment I want to talk about is when Tijuana won the Ultimini Championship.

The Luchadores had just beat the favoured San Antonio Marshalls 14-13 in the SFC Championship Game while the Coyotes won the NFC Championship against the Pythons 24-13. The Ultimini Championship was going to be fought between the 10-4 Coyotes and the 8-6 Luchadores. The Coyotes were the favourites, of course, but that day saw the underdog triumph.

The first half of the game was a dream start for the Coyotes. They blitzed the Luchadores, dominating the game and took a 17-0 lead into half time. It did not look good at all for Tijuana. They looked out matched and, quite frankly, like a team that didn't belong. Whatever was said in the locker room definitely worked, though, as the second half was a completely different game.

The second half saw the Luchas get on the board with a 7 yard touchdown pass to Xavier Flash. Going into the fourth quarter, Kansas City was still up 17-6. Quickly though, Tijuana struck again, hitting Ricardo Jones for the touchdown. Halfway through the quarter the Coyotes hit a field goal to go up 20-12. With just 5:30 left in the game, Spinelli took the Coyotes punt 73 yards to the house. Now, the Luchadores had missed on every extra point and two point conversion in the game, which put them down 20-18 instead of up 21-20. Here's where the miracle comes in.

With 2:05 left in the game, Tijuana got the ball back on their own 27 yard line. They drove down the field, making big plays to Stone Hans and Ricardo Jones. They got all the way to Kansas City's 33 yard line. With one last play left in the game, the Luchadores lined up for the 50 yard field goal. Corbett had already come off a record breaking regular season, but missed an extra point earlier in the game. With the Championship on his foot, Kyle Corbett lined up behind the ball. The holder called for the snap and Corbett took his step towards the ball. With everything he had left in him, Corbett nailed the kick, splitting the uprights and sending the Luchadores to the Ultimini Trophy. Coming back from a 17-0 half time deficit, the Tijuana Luchadores acheived the improbable. This is the moment I will remember forever.

Alright, maybe I am still butt-hurt about it and that is why I keep bringing it up, but that loss in the last Ultimini was total bull. We were leading for like 10 points in the first two halfs and then suddenly we were not able to stop Tijuana in the third where we barely got any points while they got plenty to almost tie with us and then in the end that 50yard kick - are you kidding me? Where how you seen such lucky win? Literally the last second kick won the game by a player that is not even the greatest kicker or anything like that. He has been a pretty bad player, okey maybe not that bad, but an avarage player for sure the whole time. And then he pulls out this bull crap kick that wins them the championship. I mean it has fuelled me up and Im out for blood, ready to kick ass to get that championship that was stripped from me. I will not allow such lucky plays to happen again. I do not know what will I do if same bull crap happens again...probably I will break the kickers legs, so he is not able to kick again in his entire life. I mean sure it might sound a little bit extreme, but that just shows in how much anger I am about what happened last season.

One of the most influential moments in NSFL history happened quite recently when the now Marshals tight end Emilia Rudd declared for the DSFL Draft shortly before the draft commenced. Rudd immeadiatly began making a name for herself and is now the top leading receiving tight end in the entire league, besting out veteran and all-star Declan Harp who was last year's recipient of the top TE award. Harp and Rudd have been in tight competition all season long while staying within less than thirty yards of each other, and now the competition is more fierce than ever as Harp is a meer one yard behind his counterpart despite four less receptions. Rudd hopes to contest in the NSFL Draft as much as Harp did, and so far the prospects are looking good with her interest in some teams building. There are a number of teams in the NSFL that currently need a top TE to fill in a roster hole, including the rising Colorado Yeti, the rebuilding Sabercats, and the three time champion Orange County Otters. Rudd has expressed her interest in heading to any of these three locations and anxiously awaits the next time her name is called out from the podium.

Remember the time the Portland Pythons, the developmental simulation football league team that currently resides in Portaland, and who's mascot and logo is a species of snake (scientific name is serpentes, snakes are elongated, legless, carnivorous reptiles of the suborder serpentes, like the scientific name. Like all squamates, snakes are ectothermic, amniote vertebrates covered in overlapping scales) called the python (scientific name is pythonidae, but usually known as the python, from the Greek word python. The python is a nonvenemous snake unless encountered in the playoffs usually found in Asia, Africa, and Australia) beat the other developmental simulation football league known as the Tijuana Luchadors, the team that resides in Tijuana, and who's mascot is the luchador, a man who handles bulls as a sport, in the Ultimini championship match, where two developmental simulation football league teams fight for the trophy known as the Ultimini? When the Pythons defense fared against the Tijuana offense and beat their fucking asses because Pythons fucking rule go Portland, fuck the Solar Bears WOO SEASON SEVEN CHAMPS BITCH FUCK YEAH OUR STAR PLAYERS THAT SEASON WERE LIT THANKS MARK GRAU, MASON BROWN, ZACH SKINNER, COLE MCCOY, HAMMER JACK, MYSELF, AND PFTN FOR THAT TROPHY FUCK YOUR TWO HUNDRED WORDS
