This offseason was an interesting one, to say the least. Even with no football, my league work wasn't done. It was my first full season as a starting quarterback, and since QBs are media giants, the league decided to send me and some other of my teammates, including Howard Miller and Haruki Ishigawa. This wasn't their first rodeo - they were bona fide superstars of the league, and knew exactly how to play the crowds. The head office seemed to be chasing the cities without teams in the NSFL or DSFL, I guess in an attempt to increase market share and possibly tease out expansion sites, so we visited Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Lincoln, Salt Lake City, and even Minneapolis. Even without a team to call their own, these cities seemed pretty engaged with the goings on of the league, and since these cities were in the Rockies/Midwest, were generally fans of ours. It was cool pumping up crowds and signing autographs, but I also met a lot of really cool and interesting people during these stops. We did a combined-team tour into New York City, and I met a kid from my own hometown who was inspired by me, and wanted to become a player in the league too, just didn't know what position to play. He could kick, run, pass, and catch - a jack of all trades just looking to see what tools to sharpen. He seemed very motivated - I think we might see him in the not so distant future.

The early part of Errol Maddox's off season was spent getting ready for the draft. He ended the previous season on a high note after winning a DSFL Championship with the Pythons, but was ready to get started on his NSFL career. He spent time meeting with teams as he had several interviews and went to several private workouts in the early stages of the off season. Soon it was time for the draft to happen. Maddox didn't have a long wait on draft day as he was selected with the #2 overall pick by the Baltimore Hawks. This was an exciting moment for him as he grew up in Baltimore and would be returning home to play his professional career. After the draft, he spent the rest of the off season getting settled in back in Baltimore and getting acquainted with his new team. He was told he would be getting called up to the NSFL for his rookie year, so he started practicing with the Hawks right away. The Hawks have big expectations this year after winning their third consecutive NSFC Championship last season as they look to make it four in a row this year and hope to go all the way and win the Ultimus Trophy. It will take some time before Maddox is able to make a big impact at the NSFL level, but he's been training hard and is looking forward to getting started once the season begins.

For Andrew Reese, this offseason was a particularly dark time. Plagued by a disappointing performance in his rookie season, Reese made the decision to abuse PEDs and has been suspended for the first 4 games of the season. Reese cooperated with the NSFL Head Office and stood by the punishment, stating publicly that he regrets his actions. However, that suspension has left plenty of time for reflection and Reese has questioned a lot of the decisions that led to him making the ultimate decision to cheat. He now awaits to return to action, knowing that he will do so with many eyes on him and lots of scrutiny. If he returns and plays poorly, people will view him as a shell of a man. If he returns and plays well, people will question if it’s really his own doing or just the benefits of being of a cheater. The outcome of this suspension has painted his name in a bad light and it will take a lot time to recover from that. However, Reese knows his teammates are counting on him to come back strong and he is determined to just be the best he can be… the right way.

Gus T.T. Showbiz spent another offseason in agony. He's never missed the playoffs in his career, both DSFL and NSFL included, however he has yet to bring home a championship. The offseason has seemed like an eternity for the young man, he just wants to get back at it and finally bring the glory of a championship home.
Months of training and hard work have gone by and he's excited to show how much he and the Otters have gotten better. Season 12 could be the year he finally gets to win it all. The Otters are looking to be firing on all cylinders. Carlito Crush and Tegan Atwell are back, Sunnycursed will be joining after spending last season in the DSFL. Adams is growing into an offensive monster, and if the last few games of S11 are any indication, Gus may have figured out his performance issues. The defense remains strong, as most of their pieces return this season, and a lot of promising rookies were drafted for that side of the ball. The powerhouses of seasons past, NOLA and Baltimore have weakened from their pinnacles and they look ripe for the taking. The Otters might just be the team to beat this season, and it's exactly where they want to be. At the top. [div align=center]
