2. Going to Disneyland!

I think it is painfully obvious that Orange County Otters quarterback Gus T.T. Showbiz was the Ultimus MVP. After slinging the pig skin for over 450 yards and five touchdowns, I don't think much in-depth analysis of why he should win the award is necessary. Too bad. I'm going to do it anyways.

Showbiz really showed off why "the extra T is for extra talent" in this game. Going up against a potent Baltimore defense, he more or less owned this game from the beginning. The scoring got started when he hooked up with Sunnycursed for a three yard TD pass. Continuing into the second quarter, he hooked up with Carlito Crush and Sunnycursed again for two more scores. Finally, in the third quarter, he hooked up with all-purpose star running back Ricky Adams for two more TDs. The only blemish on Showbiz's otherwise spotless performance was a 4th quarter interception return by Hawks safety Blackford Oakes. Being that this was during what the experts like to call "garbage time", I think I can safely strike it from the record.

Now, MVP literally stands for Most Valuable Player, as almost everybody knows. I'd love to see how anyone could argue that another player was more valuable to their team than Showbiz was. He was literally instrumental in scoring all of the team's touchdowns but one, and even the drive that allowed Zephyrous to score a one yard TD was mostly through the air. Remember folks: put down Gus T.T. Showbiz for Ultimus MVP.

3. Spotlight on the Youth

In an Ultimus championship game full of offense, one young wide receiver really stood out from everyone else, and that was Sunnycursed. The Orange County Otters prized draft pick really stepped on up the NSFL's biggest stage in a coming out party for the ages. In a game full of more experienced veteran receivers, Sunnycursed showed why the Otters took him early by grabbing six receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns. It was obvious early on that he was Showbiz's preferred target in the red zone as he grabbed both of his touchdowns from inside the twenty yard line. He didn't just do damage in short yardage situations though, as his long reception of the game went for 59 yards. At face value, it appears as though teammates Carlito Crush and Tegan Atwell both had better games than Sunnycursed did, but if you look at the tape, it tells a different story. Sunnycursed was open early and often to begin the game, so much so that the opposing defense tried to adjust to cover him better. This allowed Crush, Atwell, and fullback Ricky Adams to really flourish in the passing game later on. After this Ultimus breakout, it seems like the sky may be too low of a limit to put on the Otters young receiver Sunnycursed.

4. Quarterback Matchup

One of the big draws to this season's Ultimus game was the match-up of two of league's premier quarterbacks. As the starting quarterback of the Orange County Otters, Gus T.T. Showbiz had a pretty phenomenal season. Supported by the Otters strong offense, he threw for the second most yards in the league and tied for most touchdown passes. His opponent, Childish Gambino of the Baltimore Hawks, is a former defensive lineman who seems to have picked up slinging the pigskin very quickly. Gambino had the league's top completion percentage, at just over 62%, and also the league's top passer rating. It became clear during the Ultimus game though just how much more firepower the Otters have to support their man under center. Showbiz outdid Gambino in every statistical measure except for completion percentage and number of interceptions thrown. However, Showbiz almost doubled Gambino's yardage total, and threw four more touchdowns. And by the way, that one interception he threw was in garbage time in the fourth quarter, so that really shouldn't take away from his stat line. While both quarterbacks truly stood up to their title of elite players, the overwhelming power of the Otters offense carried Showbiz to what turned out to be a fairly easy victory.

1. Outlaws showed that they can be a serious contender this season. What are your expectations for next season?

The sudden retirement announcement of our quarterback Kevin Fitzpatrick definitely puts a bump in the road, but not for this coming season. I expect the Outlaws to perform as a top 3 team in the league... alongside the Otters and Saberkitties. Sorry, NSFC.

2. Otters have also made a statement with an Ultimus win, and the Sabercats with a strong season. What do the Outlaws need to do to get past the tough division opponents?

We need to start signing big-name free agents. Our biggest obstacle to that has recently become a non-issue, so I expect us to improve in that area in the future.

3. Regression strikes again. Any thoughts on how much longer Dean Jackson will be around?

Dean Jackson will be playing as long as Father Time allows. If he can quick consistently, Jackson will be in the league.

4. We have had an influx of kickers this last season and a half. How do you feel about that? How do you feel about bot kickers?

I'm very excited to see the new kicker youth! I feel strongly against kicker bots, as they mean a game-winning or game-losing play could be made by a robot.

Who do I hate more, the Orange County Otters or the San Jose Saberkitties? It's a tough choice because I hate them both quite a bit. The Otters are the Patriots of the NSFL and their continued success makes them horrible. I wish they'd lost the Utlimus, because now they have more franchise Ultimus wins than we (the Arizona Outlaws) do. Of course, at least them winning means the Sabercats continue their streak of ZERO franchise playoff wins. They've been in the league 12 seasons, have made the playoffs twice, and have been knocked out immediately both times. It's music to my hateful ears. Now, I do appreciate the Otters winning in that it further solidifies ASFC supremacy. The Outlaws went 7-7 and were third in our division by, unfortunately, several games. The Liberty made the playoffs at 7-7 in the NSFC. But heck to that, because the only ASFC team I want winning is Arizona. Heck Orange County. Heck San Jose. Heck New Orleans. Their success is my pain and their failure my pleasure. I wish that, in the ASFC championship game, both San Jose and the Otters had somehow found a way to simultaneously lose. What a wonderful game that would be!

1) It Is Our Time Next Year
As of writing this, the Philadelphia Liberty have been eliminated from the playoffs in the first round. While I don't know if we were quite good enough to win the entire championship, I think we deserved a shot in the big game. That being said, next year is absolutely our year. Our entire core is active and improving rapidly, and we only lost one player this off season. While Achilles Hondo was a big part of our defensive core, we believe that we'll still be a better team moving forward. Our quarterback, Adriana Falconi, made huge progress this year. While she's still considered at the bottom of the league in terms of talent, she kept us in a lot of games and performed when we needed her the most. We also have Marquise Brown coming back for another season. He's arguably been the best running back in the entire league, and we've leaned on him for many game and he's pulled through. Finally, we have myself, Jordan von Matt. Turning down a huge offer to sign with Yellowknife in the off season, I've decided to come back to Philly in order to win a championship. We've put in the time, and now we're ready to reap the rewards.

2) Disneyland
The quarterback for the Orange County Otters, Gus Showbiz, was the clear MVP for this year's Ultimus. He finished the game 31/54 for 459 yards and 5 touchdowns. He celebrated the championship win by going to Disneyland a few weeks later with his team. It was really important for him to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse, as it was something he's always wanted to do, ever since he was a little boy. He got their autographs, along with many other Disney characters that he met along the way. In terms of rides, Showbiz's favourites were definitely It's A Small World, Space Mountain, and Autopia. It's been so long since Showbiz has driven anywhere, since he has a personal chauffeur that drives him to and from practice, the airport, and all the local In N Out locations. Driving again brought Showbiz so much joy that he fired his personal driver, making him Uber back home. Questionable decisions aside, Showbiz had so much fun at Disneyland that he made a pledge to his team that he would lead them back here one day. Most thought he was talking about winning another title, but a select few knew he was really talking about a return trip to Disneyland.

3. Post Game
In one of the Conference Championship games, the Philadelphia Liberty lost a heartbreaker to the Baltimore Hawks, 30-24 in overtime. Baltimore was heavily favoured going into the matchup, which was why it was so surprising to see Philly hanging in there for almost the entirety of the game. While the Hawks were up by 10 at halftime, the Liberty stormed back quickly, answering with 10 points of their own, which came by a Carter Bush touchdown reception and a field goal by Kulture Fulture. Going into the 3rd quarter, it was all tied up, but the Hawks were driving. They capped off their drive with a 6 yard touchdown reception by Owen Taylor. Carter Bush later scored his second touchdown of the game to tie it all up, which is where the 4th quarter would end. The Liberty's championship dreams would end there though, as the Hawks marched down the field once more and scored yet another Owen Taylor touchdown, which was his 3rd of the game. The Liberty sat there, stunned, as the Hawks stormed the field to celebrate. Philly vowed to get revenge though, as next season looms closer and closer with every day. I'd definitely consider this game to be the best of the playoffs, as most of the others (including the championship) were more or less blowouts.

4. Unsung Hero
Gus Showbiz of the Orange County Otters was the unsung hero of the playoffs this year. He is typically overshadowed by the Otters' star running back, Ricky Adams, who had a dominant year over the regular season. This isn't to say that Adams didn't have a good playoff run, he just simply performed at his usual standard. Showbiz went above and beyond over the two games the Otters played in the playoffs. His stat line in the first game against San Jose doesn't stand out too much, going 27/50 for 362 yards and 3 touchdowns, but there's a reason I want to point out this game. Going into the 4th quarter, the Otters were only up by 4 points. Showbiz took matters into his own hands and drove the ball down the field and put up passing touchdowns in two straight drives, greatly extending the lead for the Otters. They ended up winning 35-10. The second game is where Showbiz really took over. He dismantled the Hawks, going 31/54 for 459 yards and 5 touchdowns. This clearly shows that when the game is on the line, Showbiz is who you want to give the ball to. The Otters will be going for another title next year.

I was also interviewed by Jiggly. Here are my responses:

1) You started your career at TE and then moved to the defense, which seems to be the opposite of what a lot of players do. What do you find compelling about defense?

At the time I was just trying to do what I could to help out the team. I wasn't really being utilized in the passing game as a TE and it was frustrating me, so I figured I might as well play a position that'd be a little sexier in terms of stats and contribute more to the success of the team.

2) You weren't here for the S4-S6 Otter Slaughter reign, how important was getting this first Ultimus for you?

Obviously it was huge, but particularly so because I left New Orleans on my own free will to take the GM job with Orange County. And not long after I left they won two Ultimus' in the span of three seasons. While I don't regret my decision, this definitely made me feel like I made the right one, which was something I had probably questioned at times.

3) You didn't start that far away from success, how has your time with the Otters differed from your time with a Second Line team on the verge of their own dynasty

Well when I was with NOLA we really weren't successful at all. We went from a season where we earned the 2nd overall pick and then just missed the playoffs at 5-9. So coming to Orange County was kind of a culture shock because the expectation is always to win. I think in the end, though, the experiences haven't been hugely different because I'd describe both as great. NOLA was a great team environment and with OCO I stepped into a winning situation and haven't really left that. And luckily we've built that great team environment in OCO now, too. So both teams have great people and a lot of success.

4) Seriously though, what happened to the name?

I just got tried of calling myself that. It was funny at first but I wanted something that wasn't quite... such a meme? I just didn't want to wind up having a really successful career and having that name make people not take it seriously. Of course I haven't been that successful in the end so I guess it was a mistake.

Look, the San Jose Sabercats got here a lot faster than any of us expected. They had a great season and started off with something like 8 straight wins, which I don't think anyone saw coming. They were legitimately the best team in the conference for a few weeks and proved it in their games. Eventually the Otters returned to the top of the conference, but not without some hardship. What's the point here, though, you might be wondering. Well, with the Sabercats' unexpected success came quite a bit of gloating and bragging and, whatever else. They weren't that bad, but there was some of it. Some team members said the worst case scenario for them was 12-2 at one point. Imagine that. The worst case scenario was the best season in team history. So point being, they needed to be knocked down a peg, for the good of the league and, honestly, for their own good, too. Now they know how hard this is, which will be good for them. But it also got them to stop talking about themselves for a little bit which was cool, too. I also just have some friends over there and it felt good to be the ones to beat them because I would have never heard the end of it if we hadn't. Next season should be a battle but I'm looking forward to it once again and to seeing a fresh face in the playoffs.

1) IT IS OUR TIME THIS (NEXT) YEAR
The Arizona Outlaws should be looked at as ultimus contenders/champions for the next two season. First of all, if you take a look at their cap space you can see they've been able to leave a lot of space for free agents or trades. This means that if a big player is put up on the trade block the Outlaws can confidently trade for them without worrying whether or not they have the cap space possible. The outlaws also have a very solid team with good players in every position group and no obvious glaring flaws. The outlaws also have a very young team that will be hitting their peaks and primes at the same time over the next two seasons. While other contenders are getting old and have passed their primes, the Outlaws are youngings. The future is now old men. Outlaws are going to win a majority of their games, and then destroy whatever garbage team they face in the ASFC championship game, and then their gonna win 100-2 in the Ultimus game. Then they're going to do it again the next season. The Arizona Outlaws, future champs in the making baby. If you don't agree then I don't know what to tell you man.

5) ENEMIES HAPPEN
I am glad that Owen Taylor strugged in the ultimus game against the Orange County Otters. Now you may be asking why I wanted a fellow teammate of mine to struggle in the biggest game of the season, and the reason for this is that I want Slim Shady to be seen as better than OWen Taylor. OWen Taylor is mentioned in the conversation for greatest runningback of all time, and I want him to be taken out of that conversation. Not only so my older teammate Reg Mackworthy can be seen as the goat, but also so my teammate right now Slim Shady can have an easier chance of getting into the ultimus. Now you might say that this wont affect Owen Taylors status and whether or not he is the GOAT RB because it was his final season and he was a backup to Summer, but to that I say shut up and I don't care what you think. All that matters is what I think and in my opinion he isn't the goat. And by opinion I mean fact. If you do not agree, well I dont care. Go tell someone who will care because it isn't me. You understand that?

1.) Another loss ultimus, does it hurt any less?
1 - I know this is a sarcastic question, but the answer is honestly yes. Playing on the road is tough, and we were obviously underdogs. The losses do get frustrating obviously, but I would way rather be in it every single season. I've been General Manager of the Baltimore Hawks for 5 seasons, made the playoffs all 5 seasons, and made 4 straight ultimus games. Now we have a cupboard full of draft picks and we're getting ready to get even better. (More on that for the next question). If we never won the title like we did in S10 these losses would keep getting worse. Plus we're young, we're gonna be great for a long ass time.

2.) You just traded away Nunc and beaver, two big components on your team, why?
2 - I had no plans of trading anyone. Both Beaver and Nunc were in our war room , and I was approached by dropbear for this trade. It was a crazy high value, and set the hawks up for a long time. Both Beaver and Nunc are going to be Free Agents next offseason ,and I feel confident we'll be able to get them back. The Hawks are in good shape

3.) Is a hotdog a sandwich?
3 - A hot dog is not a sandwich. I feel like I get this question a lot, and yea I understand its a bun wrapped around meat, but it just doesn't FEEL like a sandwich ya know?

4.) Do you think Baltimore will make it back to the ultimus AGAIN?
4 - I think we will make it back to the Ultimus. I'm not 100% sure - but the Yeti are good. They are, however, not perfect. The Hawks still have a crazy talented team, with a great defense and even better offense. The ASFC is loaded. The NSFC? Not as much

What was your favorite moment from this season, whether on the field or in the lockerroom?
My favorite moment had to be winning the conference championship over the Philadelphia Liberty. Although we didn't beat them by 50+ like we had at other times this season, they are still our fiercest rivals and a win in that game especially meant a lot: we punctuated a win over our rivals and we set the tone for our championship game going forward.

What’s it like seeing fans when you’re around town in Baltimore?
That's a good question. I have never quite gotten used to the publicity and living in the public eye as much as I do. I think its because I never quite imagined I would be where I am today. And on top of that, I think there are better role models out there for people that I, but to each his own.

Where do you like to spend the offseason?
In the off season I do actually end up going back to Tijuana sometimes. I still own that tiny condo I bought while I was in the DSFL with the Luchadores there. I've been spending more time just a little more north in LA, though, so maybe I will end up buying a house there instead. But as for right now? I guess its Denver!

Favorite style of pizza?
Definitely deep dish. I like a pizza I can sink my teeth into.

1. Going in to this Ultimus, how did your retirement change your perspective on the game?

As silly as it sounds, with this being my final game, I went into the game with the idea to just go out there and enjoy every last moment of it. Take in the sound of the crowd with every kickoff, punt and kick.

2. You were perfect in your final game, was that a fitting way to end your career?

There are definitely worse ways out there to finish a career. Going perfect on the night was just the right way to go.

3. As the leader in 7 career kicking stats, do you think you have a shot at making the hall?

It would be an honour to be added to the hall. While leading in 7 career stats, I have to wonder if it are the right stats. Most are career leadimg stats, due to the amount of time I've spent in the league in comparison to other kickers out there. Could I make it into a kicker hall of fame, I feel like I could do that for sure though.

4. Does #kickermafia still talk to Micycle McCormick of has he been officially blacklisted?

McCormick is still a part of the #kickermafia, we do like to make fun of him at times, but once a member is always a member

Task #1:
The Kansas City Coyotes have a few reasons that they should be viewed as the Ultimini Champions in the DSFL, one of which includes the fact that we actually won the game and brought the trophy back to Kansas City for the first time. Additionally, we boast what may be the best running back in the DSFL in Axel Danielsson, a fantastic quarterback in Luke Boechler, and a star receiver in Krispy Kreme on offense. On defense, it’s much of the same story. Last year’s first overall pick in Johnny Snuggles who has fully lived up to the hype, one of the best inactive players in the DSFL in Derek Bohne, and maybe the best linebacker not in the NSFL, Raymond Vans. I have no idea who owns this man’s rights in the NSFL, but you are getting an absolute stud. His performance in the Ultimini would have been a significant argument for us being the best team in the DSFL by itself, but the way he and the defense stepped up in the second half of that game (I say stepped up, they only gave up seven points in the first half), that was exactly what was needed in order for us to shut down the game and really pull away from San Antonio.

Task #3:
My team, the Kansas City Coyotes, had the great fortune this season of breaking in and winning the first Ultimini Championship in franchise history. While my performance in the championship game was nothing to write home about, unless of course you’re talking about players that are lucky to have not cost their team the game, the team on a whole had a great game. Dominating performances by key players like Luke Boechler, Krispy Kreme and Axel Danielsson on offense were able to put up 37 points on a team that had our number all season and lead us to that great win. On defense, Raymond Vans, Johnny Snuggles and even backup cornerback Jake Verden stepped up in the championship holding the Marshals to 7 points which was by far the least the Marshals scored against us this whole season.

The Ultimini game was one that required us to come together on a whole to put together a full performance that resulted in a dominating win for the first Ultimini in this great franchise’s history. Although this may be my only season in the DSFL since it seems like kicker is a pretty consistent need across the board, I’ll always be a Coyote and grateful for the opportunity this team gave me. The fact that we could bring the best fans in the DSFL a championship? A perfect finish.

Task 1: IT IS OUR TIME THIS (NEXT) YEAR

It has definitely been a fun season for not only Dan Schneider but the Baltimore Hawks in general. As he lead the entire league in sacks throughout the season, the Hawks made one of their many trips to the NSFL playoffs and even made it to the Ultimus match in season 12. They ultimately ended up losing the trophy to the Orange County Ottersto what was basically a blowout, but if you were to replay it however many times then it could've gone any way. Going into next year, the Hawks should easily be the favorites for the NSFC and are large contenders for the Ultimus. Stealing Achilles Hondo away from the Philadelphia Liberty, who had placed second in the conference under them, the Hawks felt confident enough in their chances to dive into a pool of draft picks by renting out Verso L'Alto and Blackford Oates for a season to the Yeti. With the Yeti improving and Liberty presumably declining, it's rational to think that the standings will be similar in S13, just with swapped teams. Still, I have no idea what I'm talking about half the time in this league so anything in the whole world can happen and for all we know the Hawks could finish in dead-last next season. They won't though because Liberty will always finish worst.

Task 2: PRE-GAME or...POST-GAME

Going into the NSFC semifinals, tensions were rising between the Philadelphia Liberty and the Baltimore Hawks more than ever in the season. They had always been at each other's throats and it was far from shocking to see all the trash talk both before the game, during the game, and after the game. YoungTB was still being all salty about losing his 10 million dollars which was pretty funny considering they had been whining about stupid sim luck for a good number of the Hawks victories during the season. The game of tension and anticipation easily ended up being all that the fans paid for, with the scores shifting in favor of the Liberty then the Hawks, back to the Liberty then back to the Hawks. The first quarter had both teams scoring seven points, and an immediate precedent was set for the game to be close through the whole thing. Liberty blanked in the second quarter for the Hawks to score 10, only for Liberty to score 10 in the third quarter with the Hawks blanking. With both teams once again scoring seven each in the fourth quarter, the game ended up going into overtime in which the Hawks won and sent Liberty home on their bums.

Task 3: Going to Disneyland!

There should practically be a unanimous decision on who the MVP for the Ultimus match between the Baltimore Hawks and the Orange County Otters, and it isn't particularly close. I'm probably an index-hugger when I say this but the index does speak in pretty objective ways so it crowning Gus Showbiz was absolutely the correct decision by the engine. The ugliest stat for Showbiz in the game which isn't even that bad in my opinion is the 31/54 completions/passes rate. That's only about a 57% success rate on his passes to his teammates, but the other stats outshine and outweigh it by a ton. In the match, Showbiz had himself five touchdowns against the Hawks. The most impressive part about it was the fact that the Hawks had one of the more elite defenses between the league during the season. The most impressive part about it was probably the fact that those five touchdowns actually broke a league record for passing touchdowns in a playoff match. Just to add a bit more weight to the argument, Showbiz always had 459 passing yards which definitely held a correlation to all of the passing touchdowns he had in the game. It is indisputable that he was the most valuable player of the game.
