Quenton Bode steps up to the podium.
"Thank you all for being here. I'm really excited to talk about the draft and the upcoming DSFL season. I'll start taking questions now--feel free to ask anything you like."
How did it feel to be drafted in the third round by the Marshals and third among all linebackers in the draft? --EnfysNest
"I honestly can't put into words how good it felt. I was over the moon just getting drafted--that's the goal I've been working towards for my entire life. But going in the third round, sixteenth overall, it defied all my expectations. There were so many talented people in this draft, I just assumed I'd be waiting quite a few rounds to hear my name called. It was a total shock to me that I went when I did. I don't want to reveal too much, but I learned not too long after the draft that there was a very impressive trade offer made for me. But San Antonio shut it down, with no hesitation whatsoever. So it's obvious to me that the Marshals want me here, and want me here very badly. And that's a great feeling, to be so valued and desired by an organization. I'm proud to be a Marshal, and I'm truly honored and humbled to be here."
How do you think you can make a difference on the Marshals defense? --EnfysNest
"Honestly, I don't really know yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to work hard every day to improve and to make the Marshals defense even more impressive. But the Marshals defense is incredible as it is. Last season, they were first in points allowed, and it honestly wasn't even close. They went 11-3, the best record that year. Really the only negative thing about their season was the fact that they got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. So coming into a team like that, that is coming off a monumentally successful season, it's hard to figure out where exactly I fit in, and what exactly I can do to make this great team even better. But I've been talking with the Marshals coaching staff and front office, and there's definitely a plan. I've already started training for this upcoming season, and I can already feel myself improving. So, to answer your question, I haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to make a difference on this team. But I can tell you this--it will happen, and it will happen very soon. I expect big things from this team this season, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."
What are your expectations for this season? --EnfysNest
"Personally, my goal is just to keep getting better. Like I said before, I've already started training with the Marshals' staff, and it's definitely working. I know I did fairly well in the Prospect Bowl, but everyone was on a fairly level playing field there. Now, the training wheels are off, and each game is for real. So my goal for this season is to get to a point where I feel like I can compete with everybody else on the field, and to be a true competitor in the DSFL. As a team, I think this season's goal is the same as any other season: an Ultimini. This team is coming off a great season, and they kept a still have a lot of the pieces that made them successful. I think the Marshals are going to be near the top of the pack again this season, and I fully expect to bring home an Ultimini."
"Well, that's all I've got time for today. Thanks for coming out, and I'm sure we'll talk again during the regular season."
