Lucas Knight likes to keep a simple and effective routine to be ready for a game. It begins with the importance of a good night sleep the day before, so he usually goes to bed around 9:30 pm. Also, it's very significant for him remembering and analyzing all of the strengths and weaknesses of his rivals so he usually watches some film before going to sleep. On the morning, he wakes up at 6:00 am and goes for a quick run to a nearby park or to the hotel's gym when he's on the road. When he returns and after taking a long bath, he likes to eat a bowl of oatmeal, some fruit and 2 slices of toast with a cup of black coffee.
When he's finished with his morning affairs, it's about time to go to the stadium and he likes to arrive there before the team does. He goes straight to the locker room, puts on his warm up clothes and heads out to the field to do some sprints while he waits for the last team meeting to start. After everything's wrapped up, he likes to talk with his team captains and fellow defensive backs to assure them that he's ready to help the team in any way he can; this talk it's important to him because it helps him focus his mind in bringing his best on the field. Alex Selich's pre-game routine is actually a fairly boring one and not that special when you think about it. He always wakes up thanks to his alarm and is staying in bed for another 10 to 15 minutes stretching his upper body and his back. Once he is up he makes breakfast which always consists of 3 eggs and 250g of corn with one slice of gud ol German dark bread. Afterwards he brushes his teeth and goes for a 30 minute cycling session. For lunch he usually just eats one chicken breast together with some potatoes and broccoli. From this point on he packs his stuff to drive to the stadium if it's a home game or just pack his luggage for the airport if it's an away game. Once he is in the locker room he listens to his pre-game playlist to get himself hyped up for the game. He starts with his left shoe first and ties each shoe 2 times in total to get the perfect fit. Once he is done with putting all the equipment on he kisses a small golden cross that his grandparents gifted him for his 18th birthday back in Germany. Once this is done Alex is good to go and listens to the pre-game speech and nowadays since he is the leader of the Linebacker unit he says he few words to get his fellow Linebackers ready for the game and reminds them of the game plan.

It's been a long and quiet career for Cameron Taylor with the Yellowknife Wraiths. It seems there's not a ton of fanfare around game days up north, but for the players, it's always exciting to be playing. Cameron Taylor usually sleeps in on game days, has a good brunch, and then starts his game day routine. Do a quick workout, watch some tv, shower, get dressed. Arriving in a suit and tie and parka is the norm in Yellowknife. All the players do it, even if it's not really mandated. It's just a sense of routine and normality that really helps get in the right mindset. Once at the arena, Cameron Taylor starts his real game prep. Throw on some of the music he's been listening too. Usually involves some classical or opera music or some alternative metal. Cameron Taylor is a man of unique tastes. Then, about an hour before the game, he has a coffee and a chicken caesar wrap and finally, Cameron is ready to play a football game. And as soon as he steps out on to that field, all that pre game crap goes away. Whether or not his coffee was good, his shower was hot enough, or the chicken wrap was made correctly, it all goes away when that first whistle actually blows.

Dorfus Jimbo wakes up at 5 am on a game day, which is late for his standards. Dorfus always starts the day off with a nice melody on his banjo. This song is different every game, and he never re-uses the same song.
After his song is done, he goes and tends to his farm as quick as he can, always trying to do it as quick as possible. Dorfus does this with his pro level cleats on, as he feels he needs to get the most out of those ridicolously priced shoes. After he feels his farm is done and good to go, he goes to his usual drills, speed banjo and corn quicks Once he is tired enough he starts to make his way to the stadium. Once he is at the stadium he sits in the endzone and sits in there for a couple hours. He likes to play the banjo during these sits. He tries to think of rhymes putting down the team they play that day, although Dorfus is not very bright and these rhymes are never that good. After this, he tries to figure out where the enemy team's bus will be coming in, and tries to look intimidating to them. This, of course, does not work, and just makes him look silly.
It is game day morning and the butterflies are persistent. No matter how many football games I will ever play in my life I will always have butterflies on the game day morning. It is as certain as having four seasons and it is something I will never be able to alter. In the early morning I have to have a hearty breakfast consisting of four eggs, six strips of bacon, a pound of shredded hashbrowns, four sausage links, fruit, and a large cup of orange juice. It may be specific but it's part of the routine that has gotten me here today so why change? I am a superstitious person and it goes as far as to what I eat. Once I get breakfast out the way I get some final film study in as well as study our game plan for the upcoming game before heading off to the stadium.
Once at the stadium I don't talk to anyone during my warm ups. I put my apple airpods in and jam out to a game day playlist I created consisting of a heavy rotation of rap. Artists such as Childish Gambino, NF, Just Juice, Joyner Lucas, Drake, Rae Sremmurd, Logic, and others. It is the same songs over and over but it's part of my routine and it will likely never change. Once I get my stretching in, get my sprints and agility in, and get my technique work done I head into the locker room to relax and get focused up on the task at hand. I don't get out of my seat until it's time for the National Anthem and then I sprint onto the field to get that last bit of warm up in before I have to go out and start defending wide receivers. Kickoff happens. It's game time. S25 Sarasota: 26 rec, 437 yds, 16.8 ypc, 4 TD

Routine is very important to Swift, he doesn’t follow his normal schedule, he will be out of funk for the game. Following the same pattern every game makes it so there is one less thing to focus on, and he can channel all his energy into the game.
Nate Swift’s game day always starts the same way, with a healthy bowl of Wheaties with skim milk and a glass of orange juice. He reads the morning newspaper and completes the crossword. Dominating the Sunday edition gets him ready to dominate DB’s. He then puts on his classiest 3 Piece Suit, he is a wide receiver after all so needs to look top notch, and drives to the stadium is his brand new Mercedes. He listens to the Chopin to get himself mentally prepared. Nothing helps him channel his energy like good old classical piano. Once at the stadium, he reviews a little film and goes back over any changes to the playbook. His job is staying pretty much the same, get open and score! After a few meetings he heads out to the field for warm ups. The stadium is already packed. I mean as Canada’s only NSFL team, they come from all over the country to see these boys play. ![]() ![]() |
