In what ended up as a playoff defeat against Tijuana in the conference final there was a shiny light, that was you. With 155 yards on 24 attempts and 1 touchdown you had a solid game. How did it feel to play that well, but fall short as a team?

Obviously the goal is always to win above all else. I'm proud to have put up those numbers and have played well in my first ever playoff game in professional football (even if it is the developmental league), but in the end, you want the win. It's a team game, and if your team loses, you can't help but think what more you could've done you know?

Were you satisfied with your performance in the S16 season in a whole?

Yeah, I feel my usage wasn't ideal early on in the season, but adjustments were made and it went well. I didn't get the full workload of a feature back, but I got 95% of a full workload as a receiving back, which is what I market myself as. 306 combined carries/catches is only a few dozen short of the highest number of touches by a RB this season, and my combined rushing and receiving yardage surpassed 1700.

Many people are speculating you as the go to 1st overall draft pick in this draft. How do you feel about this praise and do you think they are right in calling you as the 1st overall?

I feel like I've worked hard for this praise and recognition. That said, I am careful not to let it get to my head. I think the assessment of me as the first overall pick is a correct one; I've had amazing conversations with the Austin general managers and expect it to be a good fit.

How will you be spending this offseason?

Training for sure. Lots and lots of conditioning. But also I'll spend some time with my family in Sister Bay, and I'll take summer courses to finish my degree.

15) Going to Disneyland!
Written: Who was the Ultimus MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disneyland, or describe how they celebrated.

Jeffery Murphy gets to go to fucking Disneyland, wooptie fucking doo. So he gets to fly all the way from the hot ass fuck state of Arizona to Florida and goes to the most magical place on earth and you will never guess who he gets to fucking meet when he got there. All his favorite charachters from all his favorite disney movies, charchters like, the little mermaid, Donald Duck, Goofy, Princess Jasmine, Buzz Lightyears, Thumper from the bambi movies, Huey, Dewey, but not louie, because his actor had the flu and stayed at home sick and they couldnt find someone to replace the actor, Captain Hook, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Toulouse, Mister Smee, Dopey, Doc, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Evil Queen, Gus Gus, Fairy Godmother, Pinocchio from the 1940 film named Pinocchio, Honest John and also Gideon, Queen Elinor, Flynn Rider, Baloo, Simba, Robin Hood, Sherrif of Nottingham, Pongo, Winnie the Pooh, Kanga & Roo, Li Shang, Belle and the Beast, Timothy Q Mouse, Esmeralda, Lilo and Stitch and even Zazu from the Lion King movies. It was truely a wonderful day for Jeffery Murphy and his whole family who he had brought along with him on this magical journey. Jeffery Murphy sure hopes he can become MVP next year again so he can go again.

7) Next year
Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will the next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.

The Baltimore Hawks had a very sad, disapointing season this season, with some bad luck in hand, which didnt help their cause at all. A 7-6 record was barely too little to place for the post season. They tied the Philadelphia Liberty, but due to a horrible 0-2 record against the Liberty this season they took the tiebreaker.

Looking forward to next season we will see the Hawks turn it around. They will win all the games they are supposted to win with no complications at all. Already helping their record way more than it did last season. They have a strong team who keeps growing with a young quarterback who will only be getting better throughout the upcoming season and is ready to lead a team to the post season. Runningback Jimbo will be looking to taking the reign in Baltimore and show his abilities. Young wide receiver Ahri all kinds of letter will be looking to connect with Havran and become the best wr-qb combi in the league. On the defensive side with see Green and Terim who are one of the best young safeties. Acho holds himself well in the line backer role. All these pieces put together and you have the recipe for a championship team.

5) Spotlight on Youth (S15 edition)
Written: The first r/nfl wave made our biggest class ever. Now that class is hitting its prime. Write 200 words on one of the players in this year's Ultimus Week that are Season 15 and spotlight on how they can affect or did affect this year's Ultimus.

Despite being on the losing side of the Ultimus final, Richard D'Attoria the 5th had a game for the history books. Arizona spent 13 more minutes on the attack than Philadelhia did and that shows back in what kind of show D'Attoria was able to set down for the crowd.

Richard recorded a total of 17 tackles with a pass deflection, an interception and a touchdown following this interception. While not getting that tackle for Loss he still played a huge part in the defense which helpt Philadelphia in the game without being completely swept away by the Outlaws.

A young player, only being drafted in the S15 draft, already turning heads and getting a lot of attention and praise on such a great preformance. It is a promising sign when your young players have games like this and it only makes you more excited to see what they can pull of in the future. D'Attoria also lead the Liberty in tackles with 9 against the Chicago Butchers making himself very prominant in that game together with a 6 tackle, 1 sack game in the wild card against the Wraiths. In what was a very close game. If D'Attoria can have these kinds of the games in future ultimus's expect the Liberty to be deadly in them.

7) Next Year

It seems like I am writing about this topic for Ultimus Week every season and I really hope that I don’t have to for the next. Last season was about my Kansas City Coyotes that I have now handed the reins over to TropicaliaCC and mcgriddleluver. This season I’ll be talking about the San Jose Sabercats. Last season we ended with a mid range record and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the now champs, the Arizona Outlaws. I would say our biggest issue last season was getting burnt by receivers. The Otters consistently tore up the field with them having an MVP caliber Quarterback in Showbiz, and two outstanding receivers in Valentine and Sunnycursed. This upcoming season is going to be different. We’re going to fill our holes on defense and build on a team that just a couple seasons ago, were champs. Sadly, that was the season before I got there, so I’m still hungry. I think we take it next season. We have a stout offense with a unique playstyle and our defense is going to bounce back with full force. Also, I think Cameron Olsen breaks 1000 yards next season finally. Barely missed it because of a few rough games.


8) Strategies

The San Jose Sabercats had their share of shortcomings this season due to some major losses from expansion and free agency. Our secondary was hands down the weakest part of our team throughout the entire season and going against quarterbacks like Showbiz and Reese were a nightmare. We constantly got smoked by receivers and it wasn’t uncommon for some teams to have multiple 100+ yard receivers in a game. The entire OCO receiving core was a nightmare to go against getting massive gains per catch while we couldn’t chase them down. We did some moving around and strategy changing but in the end it’s going to have to be personnel changes that really make a difference. This draft and free agency period are full of great talent that we could definitely use this upcoming season. Every position aside from QB has multiple active players with a lot of great talent and ability. This past recruiting push was a great success and will definitely shake up the league not this season but the season after. If there are any needs left to fill on this team, then that draft will surely contain the pieces. Hopefully we can take an Ultimini in my first season as Co-GM alongside ckroyal.


1) Playoff Review

The Ultimus Championship game itself was actually a fantastic game. Two underdog teams with Philly and Arizona going at it for the big one. The game seemed evenly matched from the beginning with the first quarter ending with two short touchdown runs for both sides. One by Seer Zephyrous for Arizona and one by Farley Hank for Philly. The second quarter is where things started to get away from Philly. Arizona started early in the second quarter with big Jeffery Murphy touchdown passes from Andrew Reese, while Philly left the second quarter only netting two field goals. The half ended with the score at 24-13 in favor of Arizona. Philly knew they had to come out of the half swinging or else the game would get even more away from them. Philly gets the ball for their first drive of the half and take it all the way down to the 1 yard line where Vander Jones catches a touchdown from Falconi to get them back into striking distance. Both team went back and forth in the third quarter after that with each team getting a field goal. The 4th quarter was a nail biter as Richard D’Attoria V intercepted Andrew Reese and took it to the house to give Philly their first lead of the entire game. With the way both defenses were playing it seemed like Philly could pull out the win but with only 1 minute and 30 seconds left on the clock Andrew Reese passes to Jeffery Murphy in the red zone where he took it in for 11 yards and the final scoring play of the game. The Arizona Outlaws had won the Ultimus with a nail-biter finish.

11) Trades

Vinny Valentine was signed by the Orange County Otters in the offseason and he absolutely made them proud. He took on the number one receiver spot both on the team and for the entire league. He finished the season with an astonishing 1392 yards on 81 catches and 12 touchdowns. This did however leave a sour taste in Sunnycursed mouth as he his now going to be testing free agency this offseason. He understandably wants to be on a team where he will be the number one receiver and I feel like he’ll get his wish. Valentine absolutely took over that offense catching pass after pass from the MVP caliber Gus Showbiz. Valentine is going to continue regressing but will still be a major piece in that offense for at least one or two more seasons. It’s just going to be a matter of is Showbiz going to last as long as he is? Right now there’s not a clear cut answer but I think whoever is throwing him the ball is going to have their work cut out for them with the talent that Valentine possesses. Hopefully the San Jose Sabercats defense can stop him in his final years before retirement. We definitely didn’t this past season.

1) Being new to the game, how do you feel about the Ultimus game?

The last Ultimus was wild. Didn't catch it live but I watched the tape. That game winning drive and final play were legendary.



2) The draft is almost here for us, what's your expectation?

I'm very excited about it! With this being a 6 team draft (1st ever?) I think it'll be very interesting to see what the 2 new teams do.



3) Any teams where you feel you would fit in on your first DSFL season?

I think I can fit in on any of the 6 teams. Many players have switched positions somewhere along the road after being drafted, and I'm more than willing to do what I can for any squad that picks me. Being the only blocking back prospect so far, I feel like all the teams could find my unique skill set beneficial.



4) Is there any RB that you feel took the path you also wish to take?

There have been so many great RBs in the NSFL/DSFL, but really I want to carve my own unique path.

Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review of the game.
Wow I'm thrilled for this chance to revisit basically the only thing in the world that gives me nightmares anymore, choking NSFL games. And boy we didn't just choke. We choked and then someone ran up and shoved a new blockage down our throats and then four more people did that same thing. We lost a home playoff game by four touchdowns and committed four turnovers, including two in the red zone. Basically the biggest bummer of an outcome we could possibly have arrived at. Looking at this game, it's really the turnovers that sent us skidding off the rails. They gave Arizona good field position, which their offense capitalized on, and it also resulted in a number of points swings. For example two red zone possessions for a team like us will probably result in 10 points or so, if we want to come up with a rough number. Let's also say that two possessions starting deep in enemy territory will lead to 6, let's call it an even 7 points. Either two field goals or one touchdown. Anyway, those turnovers alone would result in a 17 point swing, which would have brought the game to a much more respectable 24-13 loss. Add in two more turnovers and suddenly it's a close game. But we did force one of our own, so who knows. In the end we just got steamrolled and that is what it is. It's not a game I expected to lose but kudos to Arizona on getting back to this level. They've had as difficult a road as anyone since the early seasons of the league, so it's not an accomplishment to dismiss.

8) Strategies
Written: Unless you won the Championship, what changes does your team need to make in the offseason to improve your chances next year.
I think the most important changes start and end with our defense. In a lot of our losses this season we were able to move the ball effectively but one thing we really struggled to do was keep our defense off the field. Yes, they valiantly allowed the fewest points in the league, but check out our yardage allowed ranks. We allowed the 5th highest yards per game against overall, driven primarily by allowing the most rushing yards per game against. We started a mish mash of players at all sorts of different positions, but we also lost a lot of defensive line help. I think adding Kwame Abayomi Mbanefo is going to be huge for our run stopping ability, and it'll hopefully let us improve upon a solid if unspectacular sack total. Next, we need to get better at running the football. We've always been a pass first offense, but even previous iterations of the Otters who ran similar schemes weren't so inept at rushing. We ran for just under 77 yards per game, dead last in the league by a solid margin. With a rookie quarterback, we're going to need our big uglies to open up more holes for Apollo Reed and take some pressure off of Franklin Armstrong. We'll have some shakeups elsewhere, but overall I think those are the two biggest things. Run the ball better, and prevent other teams from doing so with so much ease.

1. What did you expect coming into the season? How is it different/similar to what happened?
I didn’t expect us to go 10-3. I kinda figured we’d be the two or three seed, but I expected it to be a lot tighter and not with Chicago on top for sure.

2. With a 10 wins under your belt in a season where I think a lot of us felt YKW was just 1 season away, how do you think you can build on that success?
The best thing about this offseason and how the season played out is we have so many ways to go. We have all of our picks so we could move assets, or carve out the cap space to add free agents. We had no expectations going into the year which helps.

3. You guys have probably gotten more impact players from the last few draft classes than anyone. Do you feel like so many of those guys coming in from one class (S15) has made it easier to build a good locker room environment?
Yeah, having a group of guys that are learning together helps everybody. The S15 class has a special bond or something that brings them together.

4. Your player Jaylen Storm had a rookie season that I could only describe as utterly retched and massively disappointing. Do you think you'll ever improve or is this a sign of things to come?

1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:

In the opening round of the NSFL playoffs, our Sabercats got absolutely thumped by the eventual champion Outlaws, 41-21. And honestly, the game wasn't even that close. Following a second quarter pick-six, the score was already 24-0 barely 20 minutes into the game, and everyone in attendance knew our season was pretty much done. Joliet Christ had a very strong day aside from that back-breaking INT, finishing with more than 350 passing yards and two scores. And our receiving corps was great. Both Xavier Flash and Cameron Olsen hit the century mark, and even I had my best game of the season: six receptions, 69 yards (nice). But the Outlaws were just plain better. Slim Shady scored on us twice. Brock Landers and Jeffrey Murphy tore our asses up regularly, and Raymond Vans ate our O-Line for lunch, picking up his 20th and 21st sacks of the season. And even though Alex Reese didn't do much (he honestly didn't have to, his team was never behind), he was efficient and tactful with the ball, and even still hit 250 yards passing. Just a crummy game for us all-around that left a lot of us wondering if our window just slammed shut.

3) All About The QBs

For me, the biggest matchup of the entire playoffs actually came in the first round, when Philadelphia took on Yellowknife. Two of the strongest offenses in the league coming to blows with a couple of gunslingers at the helm in Adriana Falconi and Cooter Bigsby, and it sure lived up to the hype. Both scored with regularity, and nobody was ever able to take more than a 10 point lead. But in the end, Falconi's Liberty just barely came out on the winning side, 35-34. Falconi scorched the Yellowknife defense to the tune of 394 passing yards (a Liberty playoff record) on 66% completion for three TDs and a single pick. Cooter wasn't too far behind though, keeping pace with Falconi through the whole game. He finished with 271 yards, two TDs, and no turnovers. For these two QBs to combine for only one turnover is a bit surprising, since they both through a lot of them during the season. Yellowknife held a 10 point lead in the third, but a rushing score from Vander Jones, and a passing score from Falconi to Nacho Varga put the Liberty back on top, and they wouldn't lose it for the remainder of the game.

5) Spotlight on Youth (S15 edition)

The S15 Draft will go down in history as one of the biggest in the history of our league. So many new stars came in and made their mark right away. Brock Landers, Emondov Emoji, Lanzer Grievous, Lightsout Lewis, I could go on. But in this years playoffs, there was someone who really stood out in my eyes, Richard D'Attoria V. He started the playoffs pretty quietly against Yellowknife, however that game was such an offensive explosion that their defense didn't se much action. As a result, D'Attoria's six tackles and a sack were still good enough for Defensive Player of the Game. Next week, another offensive showcase, this time against Chicago, but D'Attoria still left his mark, leading both teams in tackles with nine. Finally, the Ultimus, and this was D'Attoria's big moment. Against Arizona, D'Attoria was flying all over the field, collecting 17 tackles, which tied the all-time record for most tackles in a playoff game. But wait, there's more. He also pulled down an interception midway through the fourth and took it back to the house to give Philadelphia a late 30-27 lead. A crazy final drive for the Outlaws negated all of D'Attoria's hard work, but he still deserves credit for his outstanding playoff run, especially in the Ultimus.

8) Strategies

The Sabercats are at a crossroads. Do we splurge this offseason and try to make another run for the title? Or do we recognize that the S18 Draft will likely be close to the size of the S15 Draft and try to tank for it. Honestly, as much as it pains me to say this, I think we should try to tank the season. Our team is getting older and we should be focusing on getting younger, especially with all of the other team's entering their primes. Orange County, Chicago, and Philly likely aren't going anywhere. Arizona, Yellowknife, and even New Orleans is on the rise, and Baltimore is trying to force their way back into contention. There's no guarantee that we can hang with that bunch, so it might be time to get jettison some of our older talent, especially ones that are already IA. Guys like Jorel Tuck and Chris Orosz could be of value to a team that want to make that final all-in push. Maybe even some of our actives like Xavier Flash or the Penningtons need to be shopped if the return would be worth it. After that, we just play our season like we normally would. In the first three rounds, the only pick we have that originally belonged to us is our first, so having a terrible record won't net us too much. But hopefully, those picks will help us usher in a new era of Sabercat football.

Question: whats your expectations for this DFSL season? How do you think you'll perform?

Bacon: I expect to be taken by a team that needs help on their defensive line. I’m ready to make a huge contribution, and if you look at the stats from last year’s DSFL teams, most of them had pretty poor defensive lines – even the winning teams. I think that a solid defensive contribution could turn that positive record into a championship.

If I’m given time on the field, I can develop into a real impact player. You can look at my college stats for proof of that – I know this isn’t college football anymore, but I’m ready to go.

Question 2: you have any personal goals you seted for yourself for the DFSL or NFSL?

Bacon: I’m determined to become the all-time career leader in sacks, at least for the NSFL – I don’t expect I’ll be in the DSFL long enough to do that (laughs). I want NSFL quarterbacks to fear my name, to dread games with whatever team drafts me. They say defense wins championships. I want to help lead whoever drafts me to championships. But yeah, career all-time sacks is what I’m gonna do.

Question 3: any player in the NFSL you model your game after?

Bacon: I think there are a lot of players who inspire me. Different aspects of the game that I need to build on and surpass them on. Riposte has been a monster lately, and I'm going to be beating his numbers within a few seasons I'm sure. I try not to model my game after any one player, since if there's enough information to study one guy, the offense has had time to study him too. So I try to mix it up, be a little unpredictable, you know?

4) how did the death of your father affected you? Was it hard on you loosing a precious family member?

Bacon: Yeah, man… yeah… (pauses for about ten seconds) Yeah it was rough. But that’s how life is you know? I guess it taught me to you know, live fully, cause that shit’ll take you any time and it doesn’t give a fuck. It made me tighter with my ma, and she depends on me a lot now, so I’m glad she has me.
But you know I missed the end of my high school career because of that, and nobody gave me a problem about that. I feel like I let my team down though, you know, so I think on that a lot too. I don’t think they blame me but I do, you know? I think I learned that I gotta push through that in the future, that just cause I got my own problems doesn’t mean that anybody else needs to be impacted by it. So I guess between that, and living in the moment, it’s changed me for the better… but yeah man it still hurts. My father was always there for me, he supported me in my pursuit of this career now, and I like to think he’s watching me now, and I’m makin’ him proud of what I’ve become and what I’m about to become.

19) the big fellas - Everybody wants to be a flashy football superstar in the nsfl and dsfl, they wanna be a flashy wide reciever that makes flashy highlight plays every game or perhaps the leader of the team the one and only quarterback that commands the entire offense and dont forget the flashy interception machines cornerbacks and safeties, but I wanna highlight a position that may not be as recognized as the the other positions but are real important having one at a elite level defiantly can change the course of a game and team I general. Yes I'm talking about the Defensive lineman a position that maybe not be flashy but at a elite level could rack up massive amounts of important tackles for loss , quarterback sacks and just chasing the quarter back and adding that pressure in general, In my opinion a defensive lineman are a massive decider weather a team goes all the way or miss the playoffs by a hair. Today I wanna talk about a defensive lineman hat made great plays in the playoffs and showed great effort in all his playoff games that's right I'm talking about smyles the defensive end of Philadelphia. Smyles coming out of a 44 tackles and 5 sack season he continue to make his presence known racking up 12 tackles but he made his pretense known more in his game against the outlaws racking 6 tackles 3 of those for losses. Heres some key plays from the game. Third quarter at 14:31 zephyous was stopped for no gain which forced a long pass attempt forcing a interception, next play I wanna highlight is a tackle for loss at 8:58 stopping shady short on his tracks a key play that later resulted in a punt which was returned for a touchdown. Even though liberty loss no one will forget the effort smyles put into the season and playoffs, although philly was stopped short from the victory I believe they wouldn't have gotten to the ultimini of it wasnt for there strong defensive lineman and the defense

5) the spotlight of the youth - The season 15 rookie class. What can I say about it? Well frankly i wasn't there but i heard many rumors and legends of the fearsome class that everybody in the dsfl and NFSL talks about, A class that will be remembered forever by players all over the nfsl and dsfl league. It all started in a simple reddit thread on R/NFL I dont know if the comissor was expecting much or not but I dont know if anybody could have predicted the huge overhaul if promising players that are remembered today of the NFSL elites. Players from great passers like falconi and reese to game changing rushers like shady and zephyrous. But I want to talk about one particular player who I thought took the league by storm this year yes I'm talking about the one and only the game changer and the legend D'attoria the game changer changer free safety from liberty.
I wanna talk about the champion games but before I do let's have a quick overview of what this great safety accomplished during is amazing season on the liberty. He was a key player on the liberty defense racking up 96 home crushing taclkes, two tackles for loss, eight sacks and three interceptions all though his stats are impressive that doesnt even come close to how amazing he did in the outlaw game. Racking up 17 tackles and 1 interceptions. Heres some key plays from that I enjoyed from the game. First he made his presence heard stopping shady close to the first down. My second favorite play from that game his his tackle on Irving for a short gain that forced a field goal for outlaws. Its not the flashes but defiantly seted a tone and the next plays ended in incompletions, finally my favorite plays of that game his interception that he ran back 42 yards for the touchdown what a exciting moment! Although they came up short from a victory I believe they wouldn't been in that agnes if it wasnt for D'attoria amazing effort

1. For the Pospect Bowl in Week 1 you had 4 tackles and 2 for a loss. Week 2 – 8 tackles and 1 for a loss. What contributed to leading the team in tackles for losses? At face value I’d say your quickness but I know it goes deeper than that.

2. As you caught selling weed in high school and presumably a known user coming from Portland. How do you see yourself handling yourself if you get drafted to Portland and being around that bad crowd? On top of that when you make the jump to NSFL and you have the opportunity to play for a Canadian team where weed is legal, how will you control the downward spiral that takes place for many athletes?

3. To stick on the substance topic can you please clear the air for many of the scouts wondering about your PED suspension.

4. As Coach Jake Roberson was your mentor when you were younger, have you found any solace in NSFL vets that could replace that presents?

1) I'd say my speed and quickness contributed most of my tackles! But really its my effort I've been training hard and that defiantly reflects on my plays in the field

2) playing for Portland was defiantly interesting experience and something I have to be grateful since it was my only offer. I learned alot from it and recently decided to quit smoking and selling and I will stick to my word!

3) yes I admit my 3rd season as a pirtland viking i was taking PEDs to approve my performance but it was a mistake I would never make and i decided I wanna approve using my natural talent.

4) Jake Roberson was a very special figure I was in a bad place since getting kicked out and even thought about quitting football! I've learned since and so far the NSFL gets proven to have that same influence as Roberson
