Why you should keep an eye on Lonnie Jackson and me (Exilate) come draft time
Hey, I'm Exilate, also known as Lonnie Jackson, running back for the Tijuana Luchadores. As you probably don't know, I was taken 58th overall in the DSFL draft, quite literally one of (if not the) last active players taken in the draft. I think it came down to a few things. Number one, who the hell am I? I joined the ISFL probably a week before the actual offline draft took place, and while I am in the PBE, there isn't an incredible amount of crossover between the two leagues, and certainly not the DSFL. I didn't write any media to drive up my draft stock, as well. Number two, running back saturation (and just the nature of the position) in the DSFL. The S27 draft was stacked with RBs and players switching to RB. From the draft, there is currently 5 capped RBs currently in the DSFL. There are also a few stragglers from S26 still sent down. With one running back being able to take most of the carries in a game, there is not enough need for another high earning running back to spend a precious high pick on one. It also seems to be one of the less coveted positions in the ISFL, even if the top earner in the league is one currently. This is all my observation, so I could be completely wrong. Number three, admittedly, I accidentally didn't respond to most of the DSFL GMs trying to scout me. My discord DMs have been weird, and I didn't check them regularly then. Don't worry, I have it all figured out now and won't ghost you. As a result, many GMs didn't even talk to me, and most likely thought I would be just another inactive taken late in the draft to wilt away in the DSFL. All of this combined together to allow the Luchadores to land me in the 8th round, 58th overall. With that out of the way, let's get into what I've done this season.
You may be looking at the TPE tracker at this point, and realizing I am 5th among running backs at a respectable 166 TPE. I've never been lucky, and it was fitting that a long time user in infinitempg (Busch Goose) recreating at Running Back, with another not so long time yet still very prevalent user in Modern_Duke (Manhattan Project) joining him. And even more fitting is the fact that two of the highest earning, new to the ISFL users, maupassant (Erik Gaare) and Vaelynn (Remus Roman), later switching to RB before the season. While 166 TPE looks miniscule next to the herculean figures of the rest of the S28 RB class, I can explain. The first and second week of the season were during an extremely busy few weeks of my school year, as I had multiple projects due and missed predictions and the first PT of the season. Since then, I've barely missed any TPE and have updated regularly.
In terms of rushing numbers, I certainly don't jump out either. With one week of the season left, I sit at 265 yards in 63 attempts, along with a touchdown, behind even our QB in all three categories. But hear me out. I am stuck behind two members of the aforementioned S27 running back draft class. Tijuana managed to land both TheDangaZone (Preston Parker), and CommishDrip (Drip Dad), both of whom were capped before the season even started. Because of this, I average between 5 and 6 carries a game, a sample size I really can't do much with. However, I can't imagine they both manage to stay down for a third season after earning as well as they do. When I get my chance to shine next season, you better hope you aren't one of the ones who missed out. While everything seems to be getting more balanced, speed still kills, and with 87 speed already, I'm only going to get faster. Let's talk about what I'm going to bring to your team, should you choose to draft me.
As I said before, I missed out on a good amount of TPE earlier in the season. But I have certainly pulled it together. I may not be able to afford the best equipment right away, but give me another season and a league job and I should be in the max earning crew. That's right. It might be bold to say, but if you take the chance on me, you are getting a max earner, or close to one. Commitment won't be an issue. I am currently in the PBE, ISFL, and SHL. In the PBE, I just got hired to be an updater, and I'm hoping to be an updater or something similar here in the ISFL and in the SHL. I will be committed to this league, to your team, and to my player. I am very active in the Tijuana locker room, and will be active in your locker room. The most important part of sim leagues to me is the people. I'm always looking to have a fun time in the locker room, have serious conversations, help someone, and anything else. If having an active and positive locker room is a main focus for your team, I will fit right in, and will not cause drama or try to start anything.
If you take a chance on me, you're getting an explosive piece to add to your offense. You're getting a speed RB who will be able to break off 60+ yard TD runs and kill other teams on the ground. You're getting a very committed earner with sim league experience, who will be capable of max earning, rarely missing point tasks. You're getting a positive addition to your locker room who will be active and willing to help others and will always participate in a conversation. It's a lot to ask. But that's why it's a chance.
