1. The bottom two teams in the NSFC and ASFC were the Colorado Yeti and the Las Vegas Legion. Both teams boast a record way below .500. Both teams seemed to struggle on the Road as the Yeti were unable to record a win this season while Las Vegas got one of their two wins on the road. Colorado gave up double points they scored which shows the defensive line lacks structure and form when on the defensive and unable to stop the opposing team's offensive. As for Las Vegas it was the same story with them giving up more then double the points when on the defensive of the ball which shows that they lack on defensive structure as well being outright outplayed and undermanned against there more stronger opponents. Both teams were getting outright smashed but at least they weren't like the Cleveland Browns of the NFL with an 0-16 record they were at least a couple of wins more then arguable the worst team in the NFL. Both teams are clearly in a rebuild and will probably be on the up and up hopefully in the next couple season, but tanking is the way to be getting higher lottery pick as well a plethera of prospects in the future.

2. Here's my quick playoff review. The first matchup we have is the Orange County Otters versus the Arizona Outlaws. This is a battle of titans. They are such good teams and have the talent everywhere so it was interesting to see the Otters get demolished. I was informed that the sim file did not have the Otters strategy in place and that there was a resim. The Otters lost the resim as well but I heard that the Otters made a better game of it. But since the results were the same we get a demolished Otter team in a blowout victory for the Outlaws, 27 - 7 in favor of the home team. Next set we have up is the Baltimore Hawks versus the Philadelphia Liberty. Congrats to the Liberty on being the first expansion team to the playoffs! The Hawks were dominant in the season and the Liberty just kinda won. The rest of the teams in the NSFC made it easy for the Liberty to just walk in. As expected the home team Hawks came away with the win in another landslide victory 34 - 3. The Hawks would go on to lose to the Outlaws in the Ultimus game 49-12. Another blowout victory by the home team. All in all it was another season and another Ultimus for the Outlaws, who are now 3 for 3 in the Ultimus Cup in the first 3 seasons of the NSFL.

3. There are many underdogs in this league when you compare them to the Arizona Outlaws. So the team I bring to you today would not be an underdog in another division or if the Outlaws simply did not exist. The perennial second place team in the ASFC, my own Orange County Otters. The Otters bring it all to the table. They run different strategies per opponent and have very dedicated front office staff. But it always comes down to the Outlaws. This year the Otters have the greatest passing attack the league has ever seen. Mike Boss and his wide receivers are putting on a show for everyone to watch. Just in time for them all to get new contracts too I might add. While the defense of the Outlaws is the best in the league by far, their weakest point is their secondary. This is not to say that it is bad, it is far from it actually. Their front seven is just the best period. So the Otters will take advantage of their amazing deep threats and stretch the field and test how good they can actually be. It may just open up that front seven enough for the rookie erlich burnsman and leroy jenkins to take full advantage.Keep your defense off the field and keep theirs guessing.

4. Man The Yellowknife Wraiths totally got robbed missing the playoffs this season. They were the most talented team in the NSFC and one could even make the case that their roster was the most talented in the league. The Wraiths' talent transferred to the field as they led the NSFC in point differential, but it did not translate to enough wins to earn a playoff spot. I think they ultimately fell victim to bad luck. Some times a team can do everything right but the sims just don't go their way. Last year's Yeti team was in the exact same situation of being the best team in the NSFC yet missing the playoffs because they lost some games they should have easily won (like the home game against the Legion). The Wraiths lost twice against the Sabercats, once on a long touchdown on the final play of the game and once in overtime. The Wraiths were favored in both games and were so close that they could have easily gone the other way with a little better luck. The Wraiths also lost a game in Colorado where they were heavily favored yet lost by 2 scores 16-7. On paper, the Wraiths were easily a playoff team but it didn't quite work out. Perhaps they were too confident and overlooked some of these easy games? It's hard to tell what exactly caused their underperformance. With a big free agency coming up, it will be interesting to see if the Wraiths will be able to keep the team together and perhaps next year they will be able to translate their potential into greater success.

Offensive Comparison: Compare one offensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point

For the Ultimus Bowl, I wanted to compare the quarterbacks from the Baltimore Hawks and Arizona Outlaws. King Bronko had lead the Outlaws to become the number one offense in the league and 3rd in passing yards in the ASFC conference. Brokno is a close second in passer ratings this season, behind Mike Boss of Orange County, and has a 58.4% completion percentage. He’s a gunslinger with a great arm and very high IQ with only 8 interceptions this year. Bronko is backed by one of the best offensive lines in the league, so it’s not a surprise that he’s got such a great completion rate. Bronko did well against the Otters in the ASFC championship game with 344 yards and 1 touchdown pass. The King only threw one interception against a formidable Otter defense.

Scrub Kyubee hasn’t lived up to his namesake in a good way! The Hawks quarterback has an 83.3 passer rating for a 60% completion rate. Despite having 15 interceptions, Kyubee can consistently throw the pass and has earned 20 touchdowns in the regular season. Against the Liberty in the NSFC championships, Kyubee had 353 yards for 4 touchdowns as the Hawks coasted to a 34-3 victory.

Defensive Comparison: Compare one defensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point
For another Ultimus bowl player comparison, I wanted to look at Jayce Tuck and Owen Taylor. Both stoppers are defensive ends and bring amazing defensive intensity for their teams.

Jayce Tuck is currently the league record holder for most sacks in a season for 23 in season 2 and is on track to beat it this season for 32 sacks. Tuck is a member of the best defensive squad the NSFL has ever seen and has an incredible regular season stat line of 87 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 32 sacks. Tuck plays a huge part in making the Outlaws defense the best in the league with 11.9 points allowed for opponents. He looks to rush on almost every play and usually finds the opposing quarterback or breaks up their momentum.

Owen Taylor is now in his second season with the Baltimore Hawks, but has been attracting attention all season long. He has 49 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble and recovery, 13 sacks, and 1 safety. He’s not a rusher like Tuck is, but he’s got the instinct and athleticism to break up plays and stop runs. The Hawks will definitely rely on Taylor to stop Outlaws running back Reg Mackworthy in the Ultimus game.

The tale of the Yellowknife Wraiths not making it to the playoffs is one of woe and sorrow…much like how it feels to live in Yellowknife. The Wraiths were in a tough spot heading into week 12, where they needed 4 things to go their way to qualify for the playoffs. Yellowknife needed to win their last 2 games and for the Philadelphia Liberty to lose their last 2 games to earn a ½ game lead over Philadelphia. Fortunately, the Wraiths won their last 2 games with a victory over a great Otters team in week 14. Unfortunately, the Liberty won their last 2 games as well and the Wraiths had their playoff dreams crushed.

The once proud Colorado Yeti struggled this season and could only muster up a 3-11 record at the end of season 3. After losing their star quarterback, Logan Noble, to a steroid scandal the Yeti had to rebuild with a new quarterback named Nicholas Pierno. A standout quarterback in college and the DSFL, Pierno wasn’t ready for the bright lights and struggled early on in the season as the Yeti were blown out in nearly all games in the first half of the season. Looks are looking up though since Pierno has improved at an astounding rate and we should see the Yeti bounce back after an appalling season.

Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about
The MVP of the Ultimus game has to go to Franklin Harris Jr. The spry cornerback was everywhere this game and filled up his defensive stat sheet with 7 tackles, 3 pass deflections, 2 interceptions, and a pick 6 towards the end of the first quarter. He was relentless this game to stop the Hawks dead in their tracks and has been impressive all year with a consistent showing every game. He’s 3rd in pass deflections in the regular season and 1st in interceptions caught. Harris Jr. is a member of the best defensive squad in the league and this was one of his best performances so far. Cornerbacks like him are tough to find and he’s got a natural feel for the game and gives the Arizona Outlaw defense incredible coverage in crunch situations. He can be depended on to tackle receivers, interrupt passes, and even score on defense as illustrated in the final game of the season. What’s even more impressive is that this was his rookie year! He and Philippe Carter make the rest of the league think twice about throwing a pass and they have the best defensive coverage as a result of their two headed defensive beast.

Championship Game Recap: Do a recap of the best play from the championship game. Must be completed after the Championship Game

There were a lot of great plays from the championship game, but the best one for me had to be None Stormblessed’s fourth quarter kick off return. Despite being down 21-6 in the fourth quarter, Stormblessed refused to quit and after the Outlaws scored a touchdown with a good kick by Ronaldo at 3:40. It was incredibly impressive to see Stormblessed take it out of the end zone, take it down the middle and cut in between tacklers. Many other teams would have quit at this point since the Hawks had no hope of winning, but Stormblessed was still determined to go down fighting in the end.

It was an amazing footrace as Stormblessed was finally taken down at the Arizona 10 for an astounding 89 yard return. He was visibly tired after running almost the whole length of the field, but returned to play in the next possession as well. This drive put the Hawks in scoring position and Darlane Farlane was able to rush through the last few yards to get a touchdown. Turkleton missed the kick, but this gave the Hawks 12 points total. It’s easy to give up when you know the end is in sight and there’s no hope of winning, but Stormblessed embodied a true competitive spirit with his last run and refusal to quit. It’s admirable to see that type of competitive energy and the Hawks should consider themselves fortunate to have one of the best receivers in the league.

Bottom Half: Write about why two of the four teams were not able to make the playoffs.

The two poorest preforming teams of last season share a very obvious theme. A problem with the passing game, or a lack thereof entirely. Lets start with Vegas who from what I see has the highest hill to climb. Their QB Josh Bercovichi has been pretty rough most of his career and hasn't shown much improvement. Mind you he's not some young guy in fact he is apart of the Season One draft class! He's been miles behind most of the other QBs from that draft class development wise for some time now and, if anything this season its at its worst. Now when it comes to the Yeti' QB Nick Pierno its the exact opposite scenario. Which is great for Colorado. Pierno was actually a rookie QB down in the DSFL who was called up for reasons left unknown to someone new like me. He did not do a great job at filling that role but, I don't think he was expected to and you can see considerable growth as the season went on though maybe not as quick as the Colorado GMs may have liked. The way it is now hes not far off from being just as good as Bercovichi which isn't saying much, but if he continues training like he has been he will be out classing him come the middle of this season and may even be very formidable by S5.

I decided to write about two running backs from this series. The two work horses Darlane Farlane and Omar Wright. Now with these guys being a full season apart in terms of development yet so close in stats. Its easy for me to say who I'd put my money on for next year. Farlane came into the NSFL during Season 2 and put up a stellar effort. Here in season 3 he pulled in 1114 yards from 360 carries averaging 3.1 YPC and 6 touchdowns, Not bad for only his second year especially with the offensive line issues we are having here. I expect that to sky rocket next season despite whatever head office decides to do with Olines.

Now Wright is a bit of a different story he did perform just as well if not, better than Farlane with 982 yards from 289 carries averaging 3.4 YPC and 7 touchdowns. Less yardage but a higher YPC, clearly the Liberty don't put as much faith in Wright as Baltimore do for Farlane and a big reason for that is a large stall in Wrights development, while Farlane continues to consistently get better. Not as fast as he can but by no means slowly either.

Looking at stats alone here its a real shock that the Yellowknife Wraiths didn't advance to the post season. They boasted the best point differential in the league by a respectable margin, easily the third best Quarterback in the league,arguably the second. Solid run game, offensive line could use some work, but who's couldn't? An absolutely stellar front seven had them in second place for sacks the missing pieces on defense came in the lack luster secondary but, that can easily be adjusted with the mass of DBs in the S5 draft class. With that in mind though it is a full season a way so we'll see if they are able to address that concern at all before hand. If so I think they has a shot of making it to the post season next year, I feel as if it was a lot of bad luck and untimely losses that really did them in, but if they can keep the pieces that have, add a few more. They can easily be in the swing of things and, they're pretty much the only team that I can tell got arguably "shafted" in the third season of the NSFL

When you're talking on the subject of MVP for the Ultimus game, most folks want to give it to the winning QB 90% of the time. Do they deserve it that often? Not for me to say, but right here I present to you a player on the total OPPOSITE side of the ball who deserves that honor, and that man can be none other than Franklin Harris Jr. This man was everywhere at once during the big game and his 24 yard reception return for a touchdown quite possibly murdered the momentum of Baltimore. He racked up 7 tackles, 2 interceptions, 3 pass deflections and on defensive touchdown before the night was over, Scrub Kyubee just had no answer for the man or, the Arizona defense in general and, it shows in the film and stat sheet. Now this isnt to discredit Bronkos 4 touchdown game, but I feel if Harris Jr. wasn't on the field it could have been a much closer game. That's what I look for in a high stake game MVP, but to be honest even with Arizonas offense churning like it was their defense is what impressed me the most, through and through. I don't see how they're ever gonna be stopped!

I dub thee S3 Playoffs "The Post Season of Blowouts" Lets start with the NSFC game. The game ended in favor of Baltimore 34 - 3. The real outlier here is the QB play and defense. Scrub Kyubee showed more poise and confidence in the pocket despite throwing two interceptions. Rove seemed a bit to afraid to take any chances and, that could be due to this being his first game in the post season. Thats a ton of pressure! On top of that the Baltimore defense was able to drop him 10 times in the backfield. Something Phillys defense could only pull off twice.

Next we got the ASFC game which ended in favor of the Outlaws 27 - 7 which was the smallest blowout during the post season. In this case neither QB had the game of their lives but, Bronkos performance was enough to get him the win, with a little help from his running back Mackworthy in the redzone. Boss was throwing the ball more, but spent a lot of time on his back which certainly caused some issues.

Last but not least the Ultimus game and, this is where Arizona really shined. They proved yet again that they have a stellar offense along with a lock down defense. All together 7 touchdowns were scored by them, 2 on defense and 5 on offense. Need I say more?

The Ultimus Trophy Finals featured two quarterbacks, who aren't usually mentioned among the elite. Their first round series, both quarterbacks had games where their team dominated immensely. Scrub Kyubee had an incredible 109.4 quarterback rating to go along with 4 touchdowns, 353 yards through the air and a fantastic 24 for 37 completions rating. He did throw two uncharacteristic interceptions though, a strange occurrence for Kyubee who is usually known for not throwing interceptions. Bronko on the other hand had a strong, but not as strong performance. He went 24/38 with 344 yards through the air and a 90.2 rating. He also had one touchdown and one interception. Bronko did manage 2 rushes for 8 yards versus Kyubee's 1 rush for 0 yards however. All things considered, those are strikingly similar stat lines. The question is, how did they do when facing each other. Answer: Kyubee did incredibly abysmally. He had a 17/37 completion rating, 221 yards through the air, ZERO touchdown passes and 5, read that again, 5 interceptions for a terrible 25.7 quarterback rating. Bronko in the meantime performed about the same, 22/48 completion percentage, 249 yards through the air, 4 touchdowns and ZERO interceptions and a sparkling 89.7 Quarterback rating. So obviously, in this match up, Bronko comes out ahead but the question remains if it's solely because Kyubee had to go up against the stifling and nightmare inspiring Outlaws defense. Things to consider perhaps, things to consider.

Defensive Comparison: Compare one defensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point

Two defensive gods in their own respective ways, Franklin Harris Jr and Antoine Delacour are cornerstone pieces of their respective defenses. In the game against the Baltimore Hawks, Delacour got 4 tackles with 1 pass deflection and not much else as the Liberty tended to throw to the other side of the field, wisely, to avoid Antoine's amazing pass defense. They managed to pull through with the win and ended up in the finals. Franklin Harris Jr faced off against the Otters terrifying pass attack in the ASFC Championship Game and came away with an MVP inspiring performance he has shown in the playoffs that he's capable of. While he only had 3 tackles, he came down with 3 pass deflections and 2 interceptions! Faced with the options in the secondary of Phillipe Carter and Franklin Harris Jr, you may just be better off throwing a short pass and praying to god Harriston doesn't reach it. When they went up against each other in the Ultimus finals, Delacour had a solid game, 2 tackles and 3 pass deflections, not something to write home about but a decent performance. Franklin Harris Jr however brought the house down with a game for the ages, grabbing another 2 interceptions, 3 pass deflections and a whopping 7 tackles with one of his interceptions being taken to the house for 6. Ultimately, this comes down to what a different talent in the secondary can make from above average to truly elite. Teams should take note of the Outlaws' model of success and either model after it, or find a way to god damn beat it.

Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to, Bottom Half, the segment I explain why teams sucked so bad they couldn't make the playoffs. Today, we brought in special guest Yellowknife Wraiths GM Mats Akselsen and not so special guest Former Las Vegas Legion GM Tyler Varga to discuss why their teams failed to make the post-season.

Mr. Akselsen, why do you think your team failed to reach post-season glory a year removed from a breakout year for your offense?

Well, numerous factors come into play, not the least among them being Chris Orosz' inability to throw a pass that doesn't end in an interception on broken plays. The man is smart, he has an incredibly high IQ and generally reads football plays incredibly well but, when a play breaks down he can't process that information at a high enough level to make the right play. We've tried convincing him to just toss the ball away but he just won't do it.

An interesting take to be sure, Mr. Varga, why did the Legion post such horrific numbers both offensively and defensively, barely managing to capture two wins?

A large part of that is on the failure to address the offensive line. We knew Bercovici wasn't a mobile quarterback and as such our inability to give him time to make his progressions and use the correct read was a death sentence. Our defense also lacked cohesion and a true leader since the trading of Mark Ramrio and I think that was evident throughout the season.

New Talent: Write about which S3 trade will or did have the biggest impact in the playoffs. Can be written at any time depending on if you choose to write about who already has or who will do good

The biggest trade that impacted the playoffs involved the Legion and the Outlaws. While it was the Outlaws, trading from a position of strength, sending out Season 1 Playoff Hero and renown speed demon (exorcism pending) None Stormblessed, it was a trade that focused on the key facets of Outlaw football. The brought back the team approach, dealing away somebody who largely focused on the individual and was seen as a temperamental character and an outsider among the room. It also brought in a massive return, dealing from a position of strength to bring about an extended duration of continued success for the, now, three time champion Arizona Outlaws. In essence, while the impact wasn't seen on the stat sheet, it was felt across the room in their knowledge that the organization, from the top-down bought into the team approach and focused on creating unity and a well made team, primed to win with talent and cohesiveness. In summation, the Arizona FREAKING Outlaws, swindled the Las Vegas Legion and are beyond ready for the continued successful approach of stock piling assets, winning trades, free agency, draft, and actually games and will likely dominate the league until they become old and grind into powdered dust.

Well this is Ivana Tinkle with playoffs in review! Counting down from the top we have the expansion team Philadelphia Liberty facing off against the eastern juggernauts, the Baltimore Hawks. First quarter, Hawks are looking good with two stout defenses facing off initially. That is until a drive by the Hawks is capped off by a 6 yard touchdown pass to Trey Willie, putting the experienced Hawks up by 6-0, an amount they would never overcome managing only a field goal in the whopping 34-4 loss. Of note: Trey Willie had 3 receiving touchdowns and one 103 yard kick return touchdown, what a monster day! Moving forward we have the Otters vs the Outlaws, a weighted match up when you consider the Outlaws are two-time defending champions and hungry for a three peat. First quarter, only points scored by former Otters kicker/punter Cristiano Ronaldo, putting Arizona up 3. The second quarter is when the Outlaws steam train came rolling through, with 2 touchdowns and another kick putting them up 20-0 and leading to a final score of 27-7. Of note, Robert Phelps averaged 20 yards a reception so it's a wonder they didn't target him more, focusing mainly on the screen pass to noted douchebag Leroy Jenkings. This led to a rematch, Hawks vs Outlaws, Ultimus Cup. You had to imagine the Hawks were hungry for revenge. That got shut down early in the first quarter with a Reg Mackworthy TD run, and an interception for TD by Franklin Harris Jr. Throughout the rest of the game, the Outlaws dominated with Chess being the man in the red zone with 3 td grabs all under 5 yard passes. The Outlaws won this 49-12 in dominating fashion as usual.

That Magic Moment: Pick one moment from a playoff game and describe what made it so amazing to watch. (Must be completed after the game you write about unless you saw the sim in advance)

Picture this, your team is up by ten. It's thirteen to three in the second quarter. The opposing team just put up their first points of the game with a field goal to shift the momentum ever so slightly. Perhaps you might imagine that it might just turn into a real game. You were starting to get away with it at thirteen to nothing, but here they are, having driven down the field and put up a field goal. How exactly do you drive that dagger in deeper, then? How do you suck every bit of momentum out of what they just accomplished? Sure, a touchdown works, but not if it takes a couple three and outs or an interception. The most painful way to torture that opposing team is to score right away. Without even letting their defense back on the field right away, I mean. That's exactly what Trey Willie did for the Hawks. As he took it out of the endzone (which some coaches might question) and he proceeded to shed a tackle, get behind his blockers, and take it for a 103 yard return to the house. Trey Willie was that dagger. The crowd was fanatic, the Hawks were euphoric, and the commentator went wild. It was a magic moment.

None. That's how many characters you'll find in the first name of the biggest new talent in the playoffs. Traded in season 3 to the Hawks from the Las Vegas Legion, Stormblessed has had a profound impact on the Baltimore Hawks offense. His insane amount of speed allows them to push safeties back deep while their rookie threat Trey Willie tears apart the offense on slant routes slants, par the course of O'Dell Beckham.
He has done more than just improve their offense though. As Stormblessed is the fastest man in the league, he's been placed on kick return duties and he very often puts the Hawks in excellent field position. Special teams, Wide Receiver, hell, he could succeed as a pass catching running back if he wanted to. Stormblessed is pushing the meaning of what it means to be a game changer. When people have to game plan specifically around you and the absolute game changing plays you can make, it takes the focus off of some other key elements. To name a few, rookie Trey Willie, veteran Darlane Farlane, struggling QB Scrub Kyubee. Leaving these people all open to do as they can with limited resistance is very dangerous and that is evidenced by the absolute blowout in Baltimore against Philly.

Offensive Comparison: Compare one offensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point

Consider this. The best wide receiver in the NSFL isn't significantly better than the tenth. One might think that sounds outrageous initially. But take a look longer than only a moment at the stat sheet. No, not the receiver's stats, but the quarterback's. You'll find Westfield excels past Evans in many categories, such as yards, touchdowns, and receptions, but what you'll see comparing Bronko to boss is this, that Bronko had a nearly identical passing rating compared with boss, he simply didn't pass as frequently. In fact, he threw more than a hundred fewer passes than boss did, so when you see that Westfield has only 20 more receptions, you wonder, could Evans have received a fifth of the target share? Absolutely he could have. And what about when it comes to touchdowns? Westfield has 12 to Evans 5. There's no way that Evans would have caught him there. Perhaps you're right, but that's likely because most frequently the Outlaws would run the ball. Mackworthy had a much higher volume than the Otters running back, Burnsman. Despite Burnsman's high touchdown numbers, Mackworthy ran much more frequently. Burnsman could simply be found vulturing touchdowns. Westfield and Evans are more separated by opportunity than anything in my opinion.

Delacour has been nothing short of stout for the Hawks this season, managing an impressive 6 interceptions and 24 pass deflections. These are absolutely indicative of a corner that you want playing on your team. But let's not forget the second corner for the Outlaws, Franklin Harris Jr who fared arguably better than Delacour did this season. He notched a league high 8 interceptions and only 3 fewer pass deflections than Delacour managed. However, let's look at the Outlaws and Hawks game in the Ultimus to get a better view of how they reach performed against one another's wide receivers.

7 tackles, 3 pass deflections, 2 interceptions, and partridge in a pear tree. And by partridge I mean touchdown. That's the early Christmas that Harris Jr brought to the desert this year. He absolutely destroyed the offense and was a shutdown corner without a doubt.

On the other hand, Delacour came away with productive, but much less impressive stats than Harris Jr did. He managed only 2 tackles and 3 pass deflections in the game. To be fair, the Hawks defense as a whole made a lot of good plays absolutely shutting Bronko down for the first half. Most of the Outlaws points came on the back of their defense.

First off, the Otters took on the dreaded Arizona Outlaws in Outlaws territory. As if they weren't scary enough, the Outlaws hadn't lost at home since back in season one, save for week 12 when they neglected to gameplan to save some of their secrets for the playoffs.
Ultimately, it paid off, as they ended up taking home the 27-7 victory against the staggering Otters offense. The highlight of the game was certainly the Outlaws defense holding boss, arguably the league MVP to a humble 49 QB rating. That's his worst game in a long time.

Second game up, the Liberty travel to Baltimore where they last lost 13-10. This game was promised to be a nail biter as the Liberty and Rove had made significant strides, although the Hawks had acquired stormblessed. It turned out to be much less exciting than it was initially believed to be. Rove couldn't stand up as he was sacked again and again. In the end, the porous liberty line lost them the game by an astounding 31 points.

Lastly, as the Ultimus hype reached its peak, the Hawks who had just blown out the Liberty faced the Outlaws who had also decimated their opponents. As supposed titans clashed, one fell very very quickly to the stout defense of Arizona. The Hawks lost a heart breaker, a soul breaker even, 49 - 12 only scoring a touchdown in the final couple minutes.

Hate the player or the game:
The team that shouldn't have made the playoffs are: The Arizona Outlaws, now I know people are saying: "But they went nearly undefeated, had a record breaking year, etc etc." All very valid points, but lets be honest, if you aren't an Arizona fan, its boring. From about week 8 or 9 onward, only the homer-ist of homers would think their team had a chance to beat the Outlaws IN ARIZONA for the title. The entire NSFC is playing for 2nd place, and for the ASFC its even worse, they are playing for a potential 3rd or 4th place finish in the league... God knows what the Sabercats, or Legion could do to liven things up if they had a chance to make the dance, or even the Otters after their record breaking year. But instead we get the dominant Patri...I mean Outlaws who will be trying to go 4 for 4 in season 4, and honestly at the moment... who can stop them? Many will try, but if once again they get home field advantage in the playoffs...many will fail. I hope the Outlaws don't hate me for this, but just purely as a neutral fan, its rather boring seeing the red and black hoist the trophy again. (209)

This is the magical play for me. Because this was Trey Willie's 3rd touchdown on three touches, a frankly ridiculous achievement that in my opinion will not be touched by all normal means (sim shenanigans aside). He went off for 4 touchdowns and as the MVP banner below states, gathered 226 total yards for a 32.2 average across all his touches! He has shown that he is a big time player who makes big plays when it counts (I/E the Playoffs!) He could have had more but it seemed that the Hawks called off the dogs late and just started eating clock when it was assured they were going to be the NSFC Ultimus representative for season 3. This performance is why we need a forum sort of hall of fame, as the index wont note this and other people might not find out unless they read the play by play of the game (I don't think many will) I mean honestly, the scoreboard should have read: Liberty-3 Hawks-10 Trey Willie-24, I cannot come up with enough superlatives for this man and his game on this day... you know the phrase "Bo Knows" or "Tecmo Bo"? For this Generation, kids might be inclined to play with Willie! (Pun Intended) (209 again)

Well for my 2 teams I am choosing the Yeti and the Wraiths... And I will make it simple... The Yeti weren't going to make the playoffs because they were selling so hard, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission were investigating them for possible fraudulent transactions! I give them much respect for even pulling out the 3 wins that they did.
The other team I am mentioning is the Yellowknife Wraiths, who didn't get in on what I like to call Sim Bullshit™, The Wraiths had the 3rd best point differential in the league/ Best in conference (at +57, behind the Otter's 118 and Arizona's fucking stupid good +261) yet they finished 7-7 and out of the playoffs. Well, the reason why is quite simple, as I mentioned before, Sim Bullshit I mean really, you had it all, Missed XPs, Missed FGs, questionable offensive playcalling plagued with drops and missed opportunities, defensive playcalls that have no bearing in reality whatsoever (3 seconds left, and you let a Sabercat player run right by you because your DC deemed a short zone was the play here? C'mon!) Plus being one of the Yeti's 3 wins on the season due to an offense that couldn't have scored a touchdown if you gifted them 99 yards AND only put out 4 players on defense. Well at least for that game. It was a rough season for Yellowknife, and we shall see what the future holds for them! (243)

In the NSFC Championship game, the key figures on offense were the wily Fox North -- Philadelphia's number one receiver -- and Baltimore's outstanding rookie, Trey Willie. Heading into the game, the two wideouts had comparable statistics on the season, with North leading Philly's receiving corps with 1,217 yards and 8 touchdowns, while Willie had established himself as a favourite for Offensive Rookie of the Year with 1,163 yards (an average of 18.2 yards per catch; bettered only by Weston and Westfield this season). Both players have impressive top-end speed, and the necessary skills to gain separation from the defensive back, but only one of these two really shone in the NSFC Championship Game.

Trey Willie's career performance -- a 117 yard, 4 TD game -- absolutely eclipsed North's comparatively subdued showing. In North's defense, he may have been hindered by the performances of his QB and Philadelphia's offensive line. After all, a player's deep field speed is irrelevant if the quarterback doesn't have time to make the pass... and the Hawks certainly made sure Clifford Rove would have a tough time of it finding Fox North, sacking the Liberty signal-caller ten times on the night. This is not to say that North was no threat -- he averaged 21 yards per catch, despite seemingly being covered by arguably the league's best cornerback -- but there can be no arguing who was the better receiver on the night.

When the Baltimore Hawks missed out on a chance to sign AC Hackett, much fun was made of their failure, as the addition of the linebacker to the Liberty's roster saw a marked improvment in their defense. Adding him to an already impressive Hawks linebacking corps might have seen an even greater improvement. However, it's worth considering why the Hawks' offer was not particularly high. Well, first of all, they have Stephen Harrison. Harrison is the Hawks' leading linebacker, this much is certain. While Erasmo Broadway's performances last season were excellent, Harrison has remained a constant, and is one of the team's defensive leaders. Only two players racked up more tackles than the Hawks linebacker this season, while he also managed to get into the opposition backfield on occasion (7 sacks, 5 TFL) as well as making an impact in coverage (5 PD). His opposite number, so to speak, was similarly effective in coverage (1 INT, 3 PD) and significantly more impactful when it came to disrupting the backfield (13 sacks, 6 TFL).

Their showdown in the conference championship game, while not direct, promised to be intriguing to say the least. But there can be no questioning the victor in that particular showdown. Hackett's valiant efforts (6 tackles) in a game where his team were largely overmatched, simply doesn't compare to Harrison's defensive player of the game performance (10 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery). Of course, this doesn't mean that Hackett is the inferior player, as the Liberty struggled defensively overall on the night, but it's worth noting that last year's rookie sensation, and Baltimore's leading rusher, Darlane Farlane, was held to just 70 yards on the night. Also of note is that two thirds of Hackett's tackles were on Farlane.

Before the season started, if you had suggested that the Yellowknife Wraiths would fail to make the playoffs, you'd have been ridiculed. In fact, a large proportion of people probably would have tipped them to win the NSFC. So why did they fall short? In truth, it's probably a number of factors. Their fearsome offense is not without faults, for example, Josh Garden led the league in dropped passes this season. The suspension of Mat Akselsen could be argued to have had an impact beyond the games he missed, through locker room disruption and so forth. Similarly, there have been some concerns over the health of Francois Lamoreux, which it is not unreasonable to suggest may have destabilised the Canada-based outfit. The simplest explanation, though, is sheer bad luck. Almost half of their losses were one possession games, while their expected wins under the pythagorean expectation model was around two games higher than their actual number of wins... which would actually have seen them place above the eventual conference champion Hawks by virtue of holding the tiebreaker.

In the ASFC the big surprise was the Legion. Not that they failed to reach the playoffs, but that they won twice throughout the season. At the risk of sounding harsh, it looked at one point as though the Legion would go winless on the season. The reasons for this are numerous, but primarily, it boils down to (ironically) the Las Vegas team having made a gamble and lost. The Legion strategy of trading draft capital for existing talent was likely an attempt to "win now", but it started badly. In response, many of those talented players they had signed seemed to lose confidence in the system and mentally checked out. This season was little better. While they do have some exciting talents committed to the team, set to propel them upward in the years to come, they also lost some of their remaining talent this season. The trade of Stormblessed to the Hawks seemed logical from a Las Vegas POV; he barely featured for them... yet in Baltimore, he has re-emerged as one of the league's big receiving threats. The trade of Ramrio to the Liberty took away one of the Legion's best defensive players, and dramatically weakened their defensive line. These things will be equalised in time, but this season was essentially a write-off for the Legion. Winning two games is probably a better return than anyone expected.

Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about
The NSFC Conference Championship game MVP has to be, without any doubt, Trey Willie. Responsible for twenty-four of the Hawks' points, four touchdowns, including a one-hundred and three yard kickoff return. Who else could possibly be worthy in that game? What makes it all the more outstanding is that Willie was up against one of the league's best secondaries (Oles and Jefferson are both generally considered elite cornerbacks, and there is a case to be made that both are in the league's top five at the position) in his rookie year.

You can make all the points you want about how he benefits from a good quarterback (Kyubee threw 24 of 37 on the night, for a QB rating of 109.4, despite throwing two interceptions) or that the impressive offensive line gives him more time to finish his routes, or to complete his deep runs (as a unit, the Hawks offensive line allowed just two sacks on the night). You can even make the argument that the Hawks have multiple threats which allows Willie to exploit mismatches or to escape attention at times (the Hawks offense also features last year's rush leader Darlane Farlane, and on the night, Stormblessed also had over 100 yards receiving; not to mention the threat of Matthew Vincent and Cooper Christmas sharing snaps in the tight end position) ... but the bottom line is that Trey Willie picked up four touchdowns against a top three defense in the league, in a conference championship game. As a rookie. Naming him MVP shouldn't require justification.

That Magic Moment: Pick one moment from a playoff game and describe what made it so amazing to watch. (Must be completed after the game you write about unless you saw the sim in advance)
The Ultimus game between Baltimore and Arizona started brightly, with both teams trading sacks and forcing the other to punt before King Bronko managed to complete a pass to Charles Arthur Chess on third down, setting up an eight yard run from Reg Mackworthy. The Hawks fought back, though, despite two sacks, to get points on the board on their next drive through the boot of Turk Turkleton. What happened next probably set the tone for the rest of the game, however.

After forcing the Outlaws to punt after three failed plays, Delacour barely managed to pick up any return yards, leaving the Hawks pinned inside their own twenty. Kyubee's first attempt was short to Trey Willie, before Godfrey King sacked the Baltimore quarterback for seven yards, effectively erasing their progress on the drive so far. Facing third and eight, Kyubee looked for the blistering pace of Stormblessed as a way out of trouble. Sadly, Franklin Harris Jr had been watching his eyes, and jumped the route, picking off the pass at the twenty-three yard line. As he crossed the plane of the endzone to put the Outlaws up by eleven, with the first quarter not yet over... the complexion of the game changed. In that moment, fans everywhere sensed it, on some level -- even those in Baltimore -- that we were about to see a third back-to-back championship for Arizona. With the Hawks trailing the game, they'd be forced to pass more, and against the Outlaws fearsome pass rush, the writing was already on the wall.

Offensive Comparison: Compare one offensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point

Ah, the usual ASFC Conference Championship game matchup, Orange County Otters at Arizona Outlaws. Yet again, Mike Boss leads the Otters into the playoffs, hoping to knock down King Bronko and the Outlaws in a clash of rivals.

Statistically, Mike Boss blew everyone out of the water this past season. Boss leads the league in pass attempts, pass completions, passing yards, passing completion percentage, touchdown passes and quarterback rating. An unprecedented year by statistical standards that will likely lead to Boss receiving the MVP award for the season.

On the other sideline, we've got King Bronko. Statistically, he doesn't hold a candle to Boss in anything but QB rating, coming in second by a narrow margin. Bronko leads a much more balanced offense, so his attempts, completions and yards are a ways behind Boss, but Bronko does possess a very respectable TD:INT ratio.

These two will face off in the Solis Cup to see who will represent the ASFC in the Ultimus, and either would likely be favored in the championship against the NSFC contender. The Outlaws are at home, boasting a 13-1 record and are heavy favorites. The Otters are pulling out all the stops, trying anything and everything to give them a shot at climbing out of the hole the Outlaws have them in. Will this be the year of the Otter?

Defensive Comparison: Compare one defensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point.

Jaylon Lee of the Arizona Outlaws has been one of the best linebackers in the league since he was drafted in the inaugural season one draft of the NSFL. Ian Bavitz, the linebacker for the Orange County Otters has been steadily working in the shadows trying to make a name for himself and get into the conversation for best linebacker.

Ian Bavitz quietly had a very good season, recording 111 tackles, six of those were behind the line of scrimmage for a loss. He forced a fumble and saw a drop-off in sacks this year. Eight sacks is still respectable for a linebacker but is a far cry from his previous season total of 12. Bavitz really stepped up in pass defense this year, recording two interceptions and 7 passes knocked down.

Jaylon Lee, on the other hand, took a step back in terms of tackles, recording only 88 on the season, with four of those being tackles for loss. He forced and recovered a fumble, and recorded eleven sacks this year, a nice boost to the already dominant Outlaw defense. He wasn't able to come down with an interception this year, but did record eleven passes defensed.

Both players had good seasons, and both will likely be heading to the pro-bowl this year to represent the ASFC.

It's that time of year again, playoff football! In a league of eight, only four teams can claim their tickets to the dance. The other four teams are left to sit on their couches for another playoffs and long, drawn-out offseason. Of these four teams, two have some very obvious deficiencies, while one has an uphill battle, but the slope isn't too steep. Our last lonely team narrowly missed punching their ticket to the playoffs.

The Colorado Yeti are possibly the saddest case in the NSFL this year. The team came under new management, and they quickly staged what could only be described as a garage sale. Their players were placed on tables with price-tags listing them at fractions of their original purchase price. The fire-sale was quick and efficient, carving a hole into the Yeti's lineup that left them deficient in nearly every facet of the game.

It's hard to say what brought the idea upon the Yeti, but it's not looking good for them. Many of their players were traded for draft picks, and as it turns out, those draft picks don't even exist! The draftee's plane crashed over the Andes and most of them had to cannibalize the others in order to survive. As such, there are only enough left for about three rounds in the upcoming draft. The Yeti will be hurting for talent and there won't be much there to sate it. Colorado stuffed their stocking with picks this year, and many won't come to fruition.

The Las Vegas Legion are in a similar state to the Yeti. A mismanaged front office made some questionable decisions. The General Manager found a decent looking dumpster in Las Vegas and went to work filling it with flammable items. Once pleased with his work, he quickly put it to the torch.

The Legion traded away almost 3 seasons worth of draft picks for players that ended up underperfoming or going inactive, sometimes both. With that GM run out of town, they've moved onto a promising situation. They've inherited a mess, but there's a good chance they'll be able to put out the fire in Las Vegas, it just might take a couple seasons.

In what has been routine in the ASFC, the Orange County Otters traveled to Arizona to take on the defending champion Outlaws. Keeping with tradition, the Otters put up a fight but fell to the Outlaws and were swiftly booted from the playoff picture. The final score was a pitiful 27-7 in favor of the Outlaws, and Ian Bavitz's performance went unrecognized as he missed out on defensive player of the game. Bavitz left it all out on the field, ending the day with 9 tackles, a sack, two passes defensed and an interception. He lost out on DPOG to a measly 8 tackle 2 sack performance by Luechly.

However, in a minor scandal, it was found that the Otters had been improperly prepared for the game. After a rematch, the Outlaws still emerged victorious, winning in a slightly more respectful 41-27 victory. In official records, the 27-7 game will remain.

On the NSFC side, the surprising second year team Philadelphia Liberty traveled to Baltimore to take on the Hawks. The Liberty performed admirably throughout the regular season to reach the playoffs, then seemingly gave up once the games mattered. The Liberty were embarrassed to the tune of a 34-3 trouncing at the beaks of the Hawks.

The Hawks then traveled to Arizona to be blown out even worse by the Outlaws. The Outlaws ended their third Ultimus Championship with a 49-12 drubbing of the Hawks. Hopefully, somebody will emerge as a viable threat to the Outlaws dominance in season four.

Championship Game Recap: Do a recap of the best play from the championship game. Must be completed after the Championship Game.

In a game as lopsided as the season three Ultimus Championship, it is quite difficult to pick a single play that qualifies as 'best'. The Outlaws put Hawks on the endangered species list to the tune of 49-12. There wasn't a single facet of the Hawks team that performed admirably enough to deserve a win in Arizona. Hendrix and Harrison tried to stem the bleeding, but there wasn't much to do when the Outlaws severed the Hawks jugular by intercepting five of Scrub Qyubee's passes, returning one for a touchdown.

That play might be the where the Hawks realized they were in over their heads. It was still early, and they were facing a 10 point deficit when Franklin Harris Jr. stepped in front of a pass and took it to the house, indicating the Hawks were done for good. Harris Jr., son of disgraced linebacker Franklin Harris made a big step towards getting out from his father's tarnished reputation. Stepping in front of that pass just might have been his single greatest step out of the past, as he pushes the troubles of having a murderous father out of his thoughts and makes a break for the endzone. Continuing his excellent game, Harris Jr. managed another interception in the third quarter. He was all over the field, recording seven tackles and 3 passes defensed on top of his two interceptions.

Going into the Ultimus Bowl, the ground game was primed to play a significant role in the outcome of the match. The Outlaws and Hawks were both 2nd and 3rd in the league in rushing attempts and yards – despite the fact that Arizona was more successful with 15 touchdowns to Baltimore’s 9. The key to both of those high-performing ground assaults? Reg Mackworthy for the Outlaws and Darlane Farlane for Baltimore.

In the final game Farlane (25-61-1) ended up with the better stat-line than Mackworthy (10-24-1), but it was Mackworthy who walked away the championship. While he mostly got to ride on the back of the impressive Arizona air game later, Mackworthy made the most of his chance to score right out of the gate with a first quarter 8-yard TD run. He was almost able to grab a second TD in the third quarter when the Outlaws were on the 2 yard line, but he got stuffed at the 1 yard mark.

Farlane was only able to meet his counterpart’s TD at the end of the fourth quarter, when the game was already well out of grabs for Baltimore, and he converted a 2 yard attempt to a touchdown. He managed to take over an incredible 89 yard return by Stormblessed by following up with four consecutive rush attempts, finally scoring a touchdown on the 4th down. Too bad it was shortly before the end of the mismatched game.

The Arizona Outlaws came into the game with the best secondary in the league: 80 passes defended and 23 interceptions. However, their run-defense wasn’t exactly at par. They had 691 tackles and 44 tackles for loss, worst in the league. The Baltimore Hawks, comparatively, had a respectable secondary and average run defense.

In the Ultimus Bowl, it was the Outlaws secondary once again dominating, specifically Franklin Harris Jr. Harris had an incredible 7 tackles, 3 passes defended, 2 interceptions, and 1 touchdown. Not bad at all, and he demonstrated he could continue his regular season success of 8 interceptions, 24 passes defended, and 2 touchdowns. A threat in the secondary, Harris dominated on the largest stage. He scored the second Outlaw touchdown in the first quarter and generally made Baltimore quarterback Kyubee’s life hell.

The Hawks were led mainly by committee, although Stephen Harrison had a strong game in the defensive line. Like Harris, Harrison had an incredible season (115 tackles, 7 sacks) and parlayed that success into the Ultimus Bowl with 7 tackles and 1 pass defended. Kurt Hendrix also impressed with 6 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack. Yet, even by committee, the Hawks were lit up on the defensive end and allowed a disappointing 49 points.

The S3 playoffs featured one juggernaut and, well, the rest. In the clear division of their own were the Arizona Outlaws (13-1-0). The Outlaws managed this regular season success through reliance on the ground game, a mediocre passing game, and a very talented secondary. They managed to score the second most rushing touchdowns in the regular season (15) and an impressive 1577 yards from the backfield. They continued the strong ground game into the postseason, with the lead running back Reg Mackworthy scoring two touchdowns in the semifinal matchup against the Orange County Otters and one touchdown in the Ultimus Bowl against the Baltimore Hawks. Franklin Harris Jr. continued his domination in the Outlaw’s secondary unit, grabbing 6 passes defended, 4 interceptions and 1 touchdown in the playoffs. The first round saw the Outlaws play the Otters, while the Hawks played the Philadelphia Liberty. The Outlaws quickly put the Otters behind them with a score of 27-7, with two of those touchdowns from the backfield.

Meanwhile the Baltimore Hawks were playing the Philadelphia Liberty in the first round. The result was a similarly lopsided contest 34-3 for the Hawks. For a team that had been at best average in both the rushing and passing games during the regular season, Hawk’s quarterback Kyubee absolutely dominated the play. Managing 24 completions in 37 attempts for 337 yards and 4 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, Kyubee lit the lamp against a beleaguered Liberty secondary that had ranked last in the league during the regular season for pass defense.

The Ultimus Bowl saw the high-powered Outlaw secondary shut down the success that Kyubee and the Hawks had found earlier against the Liberty, and the Outlaws managed to own the game. The final result 49-12 came largely from being able to shut down the Hawks’ air game and even convert an interception to a touchdown by Harris Jr. In the end it was too much for the Hawks and the Outlaws continued their domination all season right to Ultimus Trophy.

Championship Game Recap: Do a recap of the best play from the championship game.

The best play from the championship game in the Ultimus Bowl occurred in the first quarter when the Arizona Outlaws were already up 7-3. After the Outlaws scored an early touchdown by running back Reg Mackworthy, the Hawks were attempting to make the game close. After that prior touchdown and forcing a punt, the Hawks began to make their way downfield.

A short pass from Kyubee to Willie gained the Hawks only 4 yards. Then the Outlaws were called for encroachment. Kyubee, looking to take advantage of the penalty was instead sacked by Godfrey King for a 7 yard loss. Things were starting to look down for the Hawks, a punt seemed to be on the horizon.

Kyubee, however, not giving up attempts to get the football over to Stormblessed – the star Hawks receiver. Let’s take this back to the semifinal game between the Baltimore Hawks and the Philadelphia Liberty. It’s a 14-3 game for the Hawks and Harris, the Liberty kicker, has just kicked the ball after a fieldgoal for the Hawks return. The kick is good: it sails into the endzone where Trey Willie makes the catch. Running for it, Willie sprints with it out of the endzone. He darts to the left: a set play that the special team is prepared for. Facing a single defender, Willie manages to shed the tackle and continues with steam down the field. A couple good blocks later, he looks up, and the way is clear. It’s a footrace for the endzone – a game-breaking touchdown in his hands if his feet can just keep up. 50 yards. 40 yards. 30 yards. The excitement, the pure adrenaline is now pumping through the veins. Running for his life, Willie crosses the 20 and then the 10.

In the end it’s a 103 yard touchdown by Trey Willie after catching the ball in his own endzone and making an inspirational return down the entire length of the field. In a game that could, at that point, have been resurrected by the Liberty, the special team return led by Willie was the feather that broke the camel’s back.

Underdog rooting: the philly Liberty are the underdogs and in which they are the under dogs let me explain why the under dogs can become the over dogs and win it all. They may be able able to become the over dogs and just delay their opponents here is why. Playoff review: we all know the out come if this piece of turd biscuit bs troll of a turd playoffs. It made my team lose let me tell ya that total bsss. Jk fam it was highly probable but honestly we will be one hell of a strong team because we are strong and we don't give up because we are amazing. It ended up being Arizona winning their series anyways so it was game over. Nine the less it was a good series overall I mean until Arizona won again I was enjoying the chill zone with lyfe quite honestly though screw thaaaat honestly getting trolled to bits by the sim. Same team keeps winning so like the playoff review is the same every year hasn't changed like at all just been the same the whole way through never seen so much halogen in my life time straight up does not make any sense at all.
